Think the problem is inconsistency.....personally I love that physical defense is being allowed. Makes for a more entertaining product.blueNorange wrote:i will always love other fan bases complaining how physical the knicks are

no that’s the thing, knicks want the other teams to play physical too because other teams don’t know to play physical, so they always foul
other teams aren’t used to playing physical and they’re usually mentally soft

Re: Are the Pacers not getting fair treatment from refs?
In game 2, yes. In game 1, well, there were entire threads dedicated to that.
As for Carlisle submitting a formal complaint, part of a coach's job is to work the refs. That is exactly what this is all about. Carlisle wants the refs to know that they gave the Knicks a favorable whistle in MSG and wants them to give us a similarly favorable whistle in Indy. That's all.
Edit: To clarify my initial sentence:
The "yes" in the "in game 2, yes" part is supposed to mean: "Yes, we got fair treatment in game 2". There were a few missed calls here and there but I do not think that the refs had anything to do with the outcome of game 2.

Which fan base is complaining about New York's physicality exactly? Because it definitely isn't Indiana's fan base complaining about the physicality. Not on RealGM, at least.

Game 2 didn't have as many egregious moments as game 1, but I think the issue here is the inconsistent way the refs handled things. They called that awful "kick ball" on Nesmith in game 1 and gosh shucks sorry that can't be reviewed! But then in game 2 when they call a double dribble on Hartenstein, suddenly - don't worry Knicks, you don't even need to challenge it, we'll challenge it for you and overturn it tee hee!

because the double dribble, 2 other refs saw no double dribble
there’s a difference between the two

Re: Are the Pacers not getting fair treatment from refs?
also again the pacers aren’t down 0-2 because of the refs
its because they don’t play defense whatsoever and haliburton has only showed up for one half so far

Indiana has no one to blame but itself for both losses. 1st game was completely Haliburton's fault. 2nd game, it was just the Knicks outplaying the Pacers (offensive rebound and making shots). And this is coming from someone who was hoping Indiana would win.

It's at least partly because of the refs. Yes, sure "don't put yourself in a position where a few bad calls by refs decide the game" I know I know. But that game 1 was just brutal. Pacers strip the ball from Brunson, about to fast break - foul call! Sure they overturned it on challenge but it stopped the Pacers momentum. Nesmith deflects the ball, Pacers about the fast break - kick ball! Sorry you can't challenge this blatantly incorrect call. Should be Pacers fast break, instead it's a Knicks 3. No worries, Pacers still in position to have a chance to win, big final possession... moving screen on Turner that yes, technically is a moving screen but just isn't called like that during most games - like getting a speeding ticket for going 51 in a 50 zone.

sorry, if you allow 121 and 130 points you don’t deserve to win
play defense, get a stop

I mean, I don't disagree, but the Pacers have been winning this season even while allowing 121 and 130... Yes, they could have played better and made more shots and defended better etc etc and had a big lead that even bad officiating couldn't overcome, true. But the officiating mistakes did them in and we shouldn't just shrug them all off. You can play bad *and* get cheated.

78 plays over two games isn't just one bungled call or a few 50/50 decisions that could have gone either way. That's A LOT of plays. Carlisle took the high road after the 29 in game one, but after 49 more in game two? You'd be upset too if it was your team.

Game 1: Yes
Game 2: no he's an idiot. There was barely any questionable calls at all. People weren't complaining about it in the game thread at all in Game 2.

But it's nonsense. Game 2 was very fairly called. They missed some calls yeah but not many.
