The sad part is none of those dudes are defensive stoppers. The fact that Gobert continues to win the award tells you all you need to know.

This is a offensive league, nobody plays defense like they did back in the 80's and 90's.

Not really sure the point of All-NBA and All-Defensive teams now that they've eliminated positions. Just take the top 15 from MVP voting and the top 10 from DPOY. Frontcourt and backcourt would've been the happy medium that helps solve the Jokic/Embiid issue from 2021-2023 while still differentiating enough from MVP and DPOY results.

Good for Herb Jones. Funny thing is, Dyson Daniels has the same potential on the Pelicans, if he can clean up some of his offensive game (to earn more minutes).

Positionless is the best way to do it. Just because it’s defensive “team” doesn’t mean it has to go by position. The best five defenders should be first team.

Are you being serious? All of those guys are cream of the crop defensively. I honestly don't have a single complaint about who made it.

All defense teams should have positions, this is dumb.

Problem is that a big's impact on defense is just much larger than a guard's by design. We adjust offensive stats based on position when we discuss players, why should that be different defensively? Bigs have the advantage of playing as help defenders while guards and forwards focus on driving their matchup into this help. This will always advantages the big from a defensive impact perspective but would not be possible without the primary defender.

Put another way, why do we still force bigs onto all-NBA teams but not guards into all defensive teams?

I strongly disagree. You think award eligibility should be based on how far their scalps are from the rim?

It was more interesting knowing who was best defender at each position. Being position based recognized the different roles on defense and who the top 3 were for each

Fully agree with this, I think the change kind of takes away the uniqueness of the All-Defensive Teams.

Apparently you haven’t watched any of these guys play.

Positionless is pointless. in the future maybe just 10 bigs

If the ten best defensive players in the league are all bigs, then so be it. I'd feel the same way if the best fifteen players in basketball were guards or forwards for All-NBA. We don't need anymore undeserving players being recognized for being elite.

Glad to see Jaden made it. He's put in so much work in the last 4 years to add strength and conditioning. There were at least 6 games this year we won because Jaden just completely destroyed the opponents offensive game plan almost on his own. He deserves the recognition

Doesn't have to be exactly PG SG SF PF C, but at least having a backcourt and frontcourt for All NBA makes more sense to me.

How is this "all defensive team" supposed to effectively guard ISOs and pick and rolls outside the 3 point arc?

Absurd that one voter left Wemby off his ballot entirely. Dude is so unserious. Should be publicly mocked and shamed for that.
