Do you agree with Embiid?

Yes, dude has GOAT talent, and injuries robbed him of that opportunity.

No, regardless of health, he would not have a shot at being the GOAT.

Not a chance.

Embiid is a choker, and chokers aren't GOATs.

Heck of a regular season player, though. No doubt about that.

Why do people insist on making a thread every time an athlete makes a ridiculously over the top, delusional comment?

These are the top athletes in their sports and it's probably some kind of combination of genuine belief/thinking they need to say things like this so they appear confident.

And btw, SHOCKING the 76ers fan agrees with him lol

If he had the discipline to lose weight so he won't put so much stress on his lower body then I would consider it.

If he were healthy every offseason, he would have more time for that.

Embiid isn't the first injury prone player. No one ever questioned Derrick Rose or D Wade's stamina and conditioning.

I mean at times he looks like the best player on Earth. There is literally nothing he can't do on offense. His defense is pretty good as well.

If he could stay healthy I think he had a chance to be a top 10 player. I don't see GOAT.

Seems like something a player would say after retirement. From a current player it sounds like he's already given up and just accepts not reaching his potential.

Not sure why you can assume that. I think it just shows confidence. How is he giving up? Everything he has done in the past shows that he doesn't give up. 2 years red shirt, going through injuries each post season and playing with them. Yes not performing his best, but NOT giving up, and still playing.

Coming back every year and adding to his game.

I mean everything he has done has been the anithesis of giving up.

Having a paralysed face is because his body isn't built right?

Having someone land on your knee is somehow his fault?

Having someone smash their shoulder (1st time) and elbow (second time) in your eye socket is not bad luck, and his an indictment on his body lol?

Last season was very small sample, had many missing games even before having the knee injury, this isn't evidence if we're going to declare someone GOAT.

It was basically a half season sample size. More than that considering most players nowadays don't play over 70 games. Not a huge sample, but not very small at all.

We have large body of evidence from 7 years, and 34 games from intermittent period, I'd value the large body of evidnce more.
He played 7 times against teams in the top 4 in each conference, that's 7 out of 23, 30% of possible tough matchups.

He also dropped 50 on the top defense in the league and the future DPOY (Wolves) and had a great record against the best defenses in the league when he did play. He also dropped 70 on arguablly a better defender than Gobert (Wemby).

He's wrong, but it's fine for him to think that.

This sounds right-but you have to question his mental game. His talent is unquestioned, and he's SUPER skilled and HUGE

Right. He'd have been better than Jordan, Kareem and LeBron were it not for "injuries". The size of this guy's ego is truly a thing to behold.

7’0 300 lb dude who shoots 38% from 3, almost 90% FT shooter. No weaknesses on offense. One of the best defensive players in the world when he’s healthy. I’d say it’s accurate in a vacuum

I have no problem with players showing confidence in themselves. I mean, sure, he's off by a mile - but I do appreciate his confidence!

If he maintained his RS performance on the PS no doubt he’d be in the conversation.

Embiid has been insanely good in the RS for a while now. PS not so much…..

Probably should at least make a conference finals before making a claim like that but the dude is super skilled for sure. With George now and Maxey turning into an all star, no more excuses.

He's not even the best CENTER in the league right now let alone the best player to ever play. It's not accurate inside or outside a vacuum.

this is absurd

he can't even get into the finals and he's already 30

He thinks he's Shaq or what. Shaq could have been the GOAT if he actually kept himself in check, stayed in shape and stayed accountable to be with Kobe.

If he flops a bit more he can take that crown, if he does not already have it

If you are bringing up regular season games you already lost the argument lol
