Yeah, there's a pretty good argument at this point. Nearly any metric or stat for career value will favor CP3 still. Peaks are really similar, pick your stat and you'll get a different choice. Both have been hurt in big moments. Accomplishments, I guess 9 all defensive selections vs an MVP.

I'd say they're neck and neck and KD seems to have a few more high value years left and CP3 is about done. So one should expect KD will end on top but for now. I'd ever so slightly favor Paul.

CP3 can bring a team to the threshold of a championship but another player will have to push them through.

KD isn't as good as CP3 at bringing a team to the door but he seems to have the tools to get them through.

I've always found CP3 to be overrated. He's a very good player but he's not around the greatest who can be the focal point in a championship team. Is at best the number 2 player, preferably the number 3 player on a championship-caliber team.

Players like KD, Kobe and Barkley have shown they can be the number 1 option on a championship caliber team. This is what speaks to their greatness over CP3 who has played with a lot of talent over his career but could never push through.

It's ok to acknowledge this limitation. Not everyone is a number 1, top 20 player of all time.

There's a large amount of people who like to remove achievements like MVPs, All NBA/Def teams, Championships, Finals MVPs, etc from the equation, since awards are subjective and voted on by the media, and Champs/Finals MVPs are highly dependent on your teammates. I disagree whole-heartedly, but there is a logic behind it.

Personally I don't like CP's case because he played with a lot of talent. If you're a MVP level player, like CP3's fans say he is, his Clippers supporting cast should have been enough.

Well yeah.. but the context here is Kobe was better than CP3, so he was able to win 5 of them as a 1A or 1B guy, depends how you view it.

Hornets, Clippers, Thunder, Rockets, Suns.
All these teams became significantly better once he joined.
One of the few players in history with such a track record.
Other than that though, i don't see something else that could place him above KD.

I don't think so, I see them as having different tiers of impact. Prime Durant good for 30/7/5/1.5/1.5 or in that range, that's a different level of impact that what CP3 provided most years of his career. It would have been huge for Paul's legacy if he could have gotten past Milwaukee in the finals

I have KD at #18 and Cp3 at #21.

I find it easy to nitpick KD and get him lower though. Low effort defense early in his career, turnover prone on drives, not a quick enough passer to be an elite hub. There are little holes in his game you can focus (without getting into the drama and narrative of his career). You can also do the opposite with KD, focus on his strengths, and get him close to the top 10.

I have a harder time putting Cp3 above most of the names in my top 20. He has an MVP-level peak early in career, but the bulk of his career value is more about how rock solid he was as an all-around passer, defender, and reliable scorer. There aren't too many holes to poke in his game (aside from injuries and size), but when I start looking up the list at guys like Dirk, Dr. J, David Robinson, and Jerry West, it's hard for me to pick Paul's solidness over the spectacular-ness.
