the original play was a nurkic straight arm on the drive. we see that all the time

1...nurkic was walking away like no big deal and marshall said something that lured nurkic back
2...marshall then initiates with a chest shove. he lays hands on nurkic FIRST
3...nurkic made an open handed face SHOVE/slap
4...marshall retaliated with a thrown PUNCH

and it was marshall who was the THIRD party in all this. without marshall none of this happens. he was the aggressor at every point

I have never seen Nurkic this angry when he was a Blazer, it's clear that whatever was said must have been well over the line.

At most this is a 1 game suspension and it should easily go for both players.

This is exactly what the NBA needs. True animosity. Team sports thrive on competition, and nothing creates competition like a scuffle from time to time.

Meh, he will get it, but I do not think its more than 2-3 games, this wasn't a severe brawl. Yabuselle literally body slammed Exum and got how much, 5 games? That was EL tho, and EL are cowardly when giving suspensions.

Nurkic had been looking for this for a few minutes before this. I haven't seen any reporting on what the Mavs players said, but it was a clear frustration hit on Gafford to begin with because Gafford had been getting the better of him all night. Maybe the Mavs players said something horrific, but probably more along the lines of punk move since he was getting his ass kicked on the court.

Marshall sticking up for his teammate isn't instigating. It's what you are supposed to do. And sorry but if you slap someone's head with force like that be prepared he's coming back.

Nurkic and Marshall should both get a game. PJ probably gets a fine because that shove was excessive and he was the 3rd man in. Maybe he even gets a game.

But you have to suspend guys because you don't want this. Oh I know some of you think its cool and like it, but the league isn't promoting this sort of thing. And shouldn't. These guys are simply too big and strong and with no protection. Don't ever need another Kermit Washington situation.
