Franz was 8th in MVP ranking before the injury, so leaving him off the all star list is delusional.

Tatum is best player in series but is it crazy to think the Cavs have next 4 best players?

Yes, bat **** insane crazy. It's debatable that Cleveland's #1 is better than Boston's #2.

I agree. And that's not taking anything away from the Cavs. They're legit good.

For me, sending more than three guys as all-stars makes you look at the other great teams and say, "Well this other team is really good, why aren't we sending four of their players?

I feel like two should go from a team, max.

Because let's think about the all-time big 3 teams: generally speaking, the third guy, while usually really good, isn't putting up numbers as strong as the best player from other teams.

Haha I'm not opposed to the Cavs getting 4 all-stars but a year ago the Celtics had a million game lead in the standings, and a historic net rating, and multiple all-star caliber players, and absolutely no one on this board would entertain posts from Celtics fans saying they should get more than 2. And they got 2. So yeah.

Derrick White def should have been an all-star last year and should be this year (I think, I haven't done the full exercise). Was KP the fourth?

Yeah I guess KP would have been the 4th, but I get that he missed some games. Or Jrue.

Really though, I don't think I ever argued for 4 Celtics Allstars last year. Just thought they should get more than 2. So 3 would have been cool imo. Tatum, Brown, White.

Yet it has happened at least 4 times in the recent past.

Pistons
Celtics
Hawks
Warriors (almost got 5 players in)

Injuries suck but I don’t think he’s going to make it off 25 games unless he gets voted in by fans

I thought he was still going to be out, I didn't know he was so close to coming back. In that case, I think it's very hard to give the Cavs 4 all-stars.

Celtics are so stacked though right?

I’ve said it before, the Celtics are “stacked” until people talk about them individually, then they’re all garbage.

I honestly assume Cavs get three. It really does feel like Mitchell, Garland, and Mobley are basically locks at this point. Allen would basically have to get in via injury reserve imo

It's problematic from a marketing and fan interest POV for sure, but for instance let's pick on Cade for the moment. He's stuffing the box score, but his team plays .500 ball when he's on the floor, and his TS% is just 55%.

Meanwhile the Cavs have 13 players with a TS% higher than 56% and 12 players with an OnCourt +/- of +9.3 pp100 or better.

The guys with the ball in their hand that get to take the most shots get all the acclaim and recognition as stars, but the game is about winning and sometimes the coaches like to remind us of that.

As for the commissioner, he usually just looks at the voting.

LaMelo?!!!?

That you, Lavar?

Dude is shooting 42%, has a below league average TS% for his position, missed nearly 1/3rd of the games, and his team has the 4th worst record in the league. No way does he deserve an all star berth.

Jesus. Well fans are only 50%, then media and players are the other half, so not necessarily. He’s followed by Don (shoo-in), Lillard and Brunson. The latter two would almost certainly get greater support than Melo.

100% agree with the OP.
All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

The 12 most deserving players need to be all stars.

IMO these are the locks:

Mitchell, Mobley, Brunson, Towns, Tatum, Giannis, Young

That leaves 5 open spots for Garland, Allen, Brown, White, Butler, Herro, Cunningham, Maxey, Wagner, Lilliard, Ball, Haliburton, etc

I'd put Garland, Brown, Cuningham, and Lilliard in.

I dont think Allen has been good enough through the season. He's kind of bipolar. He has 2-3 week stretches where hes awesome and then 2 week stretches where he seems off.

I'm hoping we get none and it feeds the fire.

Maybe not crazy but I think it goes Tatum>Spida and then its a hodgepodge of the next 5-6 players but in reality all that really matters is how each player performs in that series. Tatum gets outplayed by Brown sometimes and Garland or Mobley could easily be the best player for the Cavs in a given series. Then the bench players will also factor in.
