The weirdest part to me is that teams will actually give up assets for a guy who has proudly burned down all his former teams. Like who wants this in their locker room??

Before this situation,I was 100% sure Butler would have his number retired by the Heat at the end of his career. Now I am no longer sure even if this is still possible but what a ugly ending in Miami!

Lol some really want the demise of the moniker so bad. What's funny is I mainly only hear the utterance 'heat culture' from non heat fans who attempt to mock it or the media when Heat are somehow still competing with half the roster injured or something.

The actual jerseys are corny but don't think the idea wll just die until riles/spo retires. It didn't die when Wade retired so why would it now because Jimmy decides to be a diva/cancer for the 4th straight team?

You're not getting a good offer when there is only 1 known team who wants to pay him the max.

This situation is just weird because we all know it's either PHX or maybe a team like Memphis makes the gamble just for a playoff push.

Miami has nobody to blame this is who Jimmy has always been.

Maybe but they likely don't want bad contract like Beal in return...

We have seen this before with Jimmy. Miami has nobody to blame but themselves. This is the risk you take when you take on this personality. Jimmy been blowing up teams for most of his career. It's what he does.

What an incredible **** show. Embarrassing by all parties tbh, all with enormous egos that are acting like petulant children until they get their way.

Jimmy isn’t perfect but starting Haywood Highsmith over him is incredibly petty too.

Butler is being a giant dick, but Pat Riley really needs to get over himself. Cut your losses and get rid of the problem. Focus on the guys who want to be there.

I might be in the minority, but Butler gave the Heat a lot of success over the last 5 years. I think Riley should've worked with Butler to find him a good destination. It’s obviously not a great situation for the Heat but they should’ve prioritized making a move discreetly because the optics are pretty bad all around.

They would've put him back in the starting lineup if he would've bit his tongue and came off the bench. I don't blame him for how he values himself, yet he's not handled this very well. The entitlement to try and get a Paul Pierce-like deal at 35 on playoff legs would cripple any team. I don't blame Miami for not signing him to an extension based on his view on his perceived value, rather than what he's able to contribute right now.

Anything above $40 million should be All-NBA money. He's not worth that anymore since he hasn't played a full season in years.

Next up "Jimmy suspended 6 games (until the deadline) for leaving shootaround early"
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Which is why Beal will likely be shipped to another team. I think the rumors are this is gonna be a 4-5 team mega trade they have a offer but I guess they holding out until the last moment.

Miami probably wants a team to take a gamble on Jimmy without a contract agreement. They know that would piss Jimmy off. Trading him to PHX is basically giving him what he wants.

The whole thing was always a construct. This is a team that extended Dion Waiters and Whiteside.

And Tyler Jonhson and Duncan Robinson.

No they don’t. To be honest getting rid off his cap is probably more valuable to them then whatever is Jimmy’s trade value at this point. Suspending him is actually saving the Heat real money. Good on them. Jimmy has only him to blame for costing himself a paycheck going forward this year

At this point, I think they're trying to make very sure he doesn't pick up his player option. Jimmy has caused himself to have 0 value, and the only team he wants to go to can't trade for him unless they dump Beal on someone first.

And make no mistake I'm not defending Butler - he's a tool and a clown. But his value is only plummeting by the day. This is not a 29 year old Butler. Riley needs to cut his losses already

He doesn't want bad contract(s) in return of Butler, which is a very valid standpoint. It might benefits the team more if they would just let Butler's contract expire

Yeah no way the Heat want Beal’s salary

Never change Jimmy lol

This is actually impressive at this point. He has left every single team on bad terms, wow.

This is how he will be remembered. It is unfortunate bc dude is a solid hooper too.

The coffee business is a cool wrinkle.

The Rachel Nichols stuff was comical to me.

I honestly don't ever care about him being a diva at every stop since it was never on my team but it's played out. It's also unwarranted because he's never raised the Larry O'Brien and seems he never will.

I never once heard someone say "heat culture" the years after LeBron left.... The only thing I heard that was anything close to that was udonis haslem old head sitting on the bench and people claiming that as some culture.

The heat culture moniker didn't start becoming a thing until the heat finals bubble run they made in 2020. Then everyone ran with the "heat culture" moniker like wild fire, with Jimmy bringing a bunch of lower lottery draft picks and undrafted guys to 3 ecf and 2 finals.

But before 2020 I rarely ever heard anyone say anything in regards to the heat culture moniker. Even in the LeBron years I never remember anything about heat culture. And surely the years before and after LeBron there wasn't much about that cause the heat were mediocre in those years.

To me Jimmy made heat culture what it was. Well the moniker atleast.

People saying Pat Riley should just take on Beal to get rid of Butler are **** insane. Sorry one guy in the NBA has the balls to not screw their future to appease a cancer.
