If NBA players really hate being traded and NBA owners respect hate trade demands they could have no trades in the next CBA.

Mate you're a millionaire. He's still mad that he didn't sign the Lakers offer.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

Something is rotten in golden state.
Weird takeaway
I agree to disagree.
If a player my team recently traded for said that being traded was like being enslaved and his numbers plummeted, I would at least consider the fact he was not happy being a sixer, but that is just me.

Re: Dennis Schroeder Compares NBA Trade Deadline to Slavery
The concept of trades in pro sports is pretty unlike anything else we do in society. There's definitely some nuance to it. Comparing it to slavery does not capture that nuance though lol
My job could tell me tomorrow I need to move cross country if I want to stay. But very rarely would it be as sudden as a pro sports trade where I have to up and go that day. And if it was, people would surely criticize and protest the company for being unethical. And if I refused, I can still go get another job with another employer in my field (non-competes notwithstanding which can sometimes be an obstacle but I believe were made illegal in most circumstances last year). Athletes don't have that choice. But their career field is unique in many ways, some more beneficial to them and some not so much. It is not slavery lol

Schroeder is an idiot and should be ashamed of himself, he should go play in Spain or go home to Germany if he truly believes this.

This is who the league should have taken as the next Lakers cornerstone . Why they took a Slavic guy who sits at home with his wife and doesn't think all day about slavery and BLM is beyond any reason.

I understand the toll a trade may have on an athlete but the benefits these athletes have does not compare to slavery.

Re: Dennis Schroeder Compares NBA Trade Deadline to Slavery
Its funny too because when you compare to any of our jobs, its actually pretty skewed toward a players favor relative to us (even completely ignoring the amount of money).
The NBA is one company with 30 branches. Just like if you work at a company with multiple branches, they don't have to grant your desire to transfer to a specific branch at any time, just like a player can't decide right now they want to go play for the Celtics if the Celtics don't need them or don't have room for them.
A player CAN go to another company in the same field at any time, just like we can. He can quit the NBA today and probably go play in China or any other basketball league.
But man for those of us who live/work in "at will" states, unfortunately our employment can end today and we may get absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, if the Warriors cut him right now, they would owe him the guaranteed money from his contract.
His comment is so, so, so, so bad. It is incomprehensible.

Re: Dennis Schroeder Compares NBA Trade Deadline to Slavery
This is probably the dumbest thing a player has said since he didnt have enough to feed his family because "yes we make a lot of money but we also spend a lot of money". Some guys are probably better limiting what they say for their own good.

Not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.
Not the brightest crayon in the box.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Few fries short of a happy meal.
Sandwich short of a picnic.
Buttons are working but the electricity's out.
Only rowing with one oar.
Not playing with a full deck.
Sharp as a bowling ball.
