Been a fan of his for a long time. I remember a game when he was at Arizona and Stanley Johnson was on that team. Stanley was the hyped up OAD and TJ was the grizzled senior.

Anyways Stanley tried flopping to get a foul or something like that in a tight game and didn’t get the call and started yelling at the ref. Then you see TJ come running over and you see and hear him scream “Stanley shut the **** up!”

I just remember laughing my ass off. Dude has always just been a gritty gamer.

He has the spirit of JJ Barea from the Mavs' championship game

Undefeatable player. I love him!

He went OKC on OKC. What a pest.

Has been a solid backup PG for years but that was special. He and Mathurin won them the game.

T.J. is one of my favorite players since he came over to Indy. I love his attitude. Always giving 100 %. Always pushing his teammates. And he got that attitude and behavior that you love when he is on your team and you hate when he is on the opposing team.

Inbound steals? That one of his signature plays. Playing like he is going back on D then sneakily turning around in the last moment to steal the inbound pass.

Didnt he lead the league in steals per game 1 or 2 seasons ago COMING FROM THE BENCH?!?!

One of my favorite things about TJ McConnell over the years, is reading other teams game threads after the games.

“How does this scrub McConnell always kill us?!?” was in nearly every one.

I call him a filthy little varmint, in a lovingly good way.

Our TV guys called the inbounds steal "A McConnell". It is absolutely amazing how many of them he gets every season.

It's just something you don't see very often. You keep thinking he'll never get one of them again. They have to see it on tape and watch out for him, but he just keeps doing it.

If he had a solid 3pt shooting, he'd be a starter material even with those defensive deficiencies.

Trust the process! :-) Still sad he is not on my sixers anymore. Super easy to be a fan of him, very likeable and always gives 100%. I am rooting for the pacers solely because of him.

hey, if he is wide open and has a few seconds of time, then he throws the ball as far as he can and sometimes it goes in. doesnt that count as 3pt shooting? :D

Absolutely amazing production out of 2 very low minutes guys. TJ had 10 pts, 5 assists and 5 steals in only 15 minutes and Mathurin had 27 pts in 22 minutes. Just wow!!

A few months ago there was a thread on the General Board asking what player maximized his talents. Like, if you played their career ten times, you wouldn't get a better outcome than the actual career.

I think the real answer is TJ McConnell.

She's a baddie. I didn't know the genetics ran like that.

In fact, in her time there, she also earned the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year. Despite a standout college run, Megan McConnell went undrafted but kept pushing for her spot in the WNBA. She went on to showcase her skills better in training camp, and eventually earned a season-long contract this year.

Who are Kathy and Suzie McConnell?
T.J. McConnell’s aunts, Kathy and Suzie, both played professionally and left lasting legacies in women’s basketball. Suzie McConnell won an Olympic gold medal and is also a Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.

His uncle, Tom McConnell, is also a highly respected college basketball coach having almost two decades of experience. Tom also played college basketball for Davidson before moving into coaching.

Top tier thread, 10/10. Killer bench for the Pacers last night.

One thing I've loved about this postseason is just how many dawgs there are at the higher levels of basketball and how valuable they are in the playoffs. Caruso, Dort, Josh Hart, Nembhard. And McConnell might be the biggest one

His ability to penetrate and create is very underrated, and a decent shooter as well.
