I'm also good with making the 1st round best of 5 and shortening the play-in to just two do or die wildcard games.

No, it's just this year no one cares about the teams in the finals

This. I would agree. Otherwise everything is still good to me.

And some of yall asking for the short 5 game series in 1st round?? Nah. I hated those lol. It's too short and kinda unfair to the underdogs ( only 1 home game guaranteed for them, game 3, unless series extended to game 4). 3-0 series sweeps were kinda meh...
The lower seed city would lose revenue too if 3-0 sweep. I don't think they'd approved to go back to 5 game series.

OP should give an option for only a little too long. I don't think we need to make huge changes. The play in tournament makes the playoffs seem longer that it should. Just go back to the old playoff format that was just a little shorter.

You could also do some nostalgia marketing about it. That might catch the attention of older viewers.

A shorter series actually improves the chances of an upset.

This year, it’s felt so long that I’ve lost interest in Its a strange year.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

I think they did a better job of speeding up round one to the WCF's end.

Finals are a little long, could use a day less between 4 and 5 maybe?

Pretty good though.

Personally, I think this is going on for WAY too long. Without a dog in the fight, I lost interest in the playoffs a while ago. I just happened to see that there is a game on tonight, and it reminded me that the playoffs were still on-going. It honestly feels like these playoffs should have ended almost a month ago, and yet here we are with at least 2 more games to go, and we are half way through June.

I know I might just be speaking for myself, but does anyone else share this opinion that the NBA is trying to milk these things for so much longer than they should be?
Did you mind last year when the Celtics won the title? Did you still feel it was too lengthy?

Having a team you care about still playing definitely helps keep you involved, but even so, I did think it went on too long last year as well. I tend to get overly nervous when my team is playing (eternal pessimist my wife says), so having those longer stretches between games actually gave me more time to worry then I would have liked.

The first round should be best of 5 as well.

It used to be. Some years I agree but in this age of parity, I don't exactly feel a need to shorten the first round. This year the West had 6 teams within 2 games of each other. We got epic series battles from Nuggets vs. Clippers and Rockets vs. Warriors.

Let's shorten the East to 5 games in the first round but leave the West the same.

I felt like the only two contenders in the West were the Thunder and Nuggets and nothing I saw in the playoffs made me change my mind. The Pacers were the only surprise team this season.

This.

You'll soon be watching Summer League (partly wishing you weren't).

I actually really enjoy the Summer League. Usually by then I am ready for some more basketball, and it's fun to see up-and-coming players who might make the team. Plus, I kind of enjoy the vibe of the games. As a fan, I don't particularly care who wins the games, but these kids are playing for spots on the team so they tend to give it all they've got.

Exactly how i feel. I eventually get bored with march madness after the first round and before the final 4. There's not enough substance. Its just go in there and punch hard and hopefully win.

Of all playoffs to wonder about the length of the playoffs its these!? We've been treated to almost every series being a banger. Even the shorter series (e.g MIN-LAL) was really fun and compelling.

Not trying to be d*ck or anything, but I'm not sure a Boston fan is allowed to comment on something like this.

You guys have won about half the championships there have ever been, some of us have none, dammit.

A season the Celtics are not deep into the playoffs it must seem veeerrrry long.

So because OP lost interest in basketball, everyone else should be deprived of basketball until October?

Hey, I don't really watch or care for baseball. Maybe we should just scrap the Major Leagues.

Everything until the Finals was fine. The set start date was too late, and the two days between games kills interest for casuals (and probably even some diehards).

travel has ZERO to do with the game gaps. It's about maximizing the day of the week they play. And I will agree I don't like it.
