Just realized Slo-Mo has another year on his contract so that second to the Jazz is probably for that. Although I'd expect it to come from the Heat not that Clippers. Wondering if the Jazz will work on buyout with him.

Wow... surprised Clippers traded Norm after he was getting a lot of allstar love last year. Collins has been pretty damn good when Utah wasnt holding him back.

Think Clippers realized they needed to be bigger in the playoffs so Kawhi didnt have to play PF. However, they only did so well in the regular season without Kawhi largely due to Norm helping carry them.

They get to kick the tires on a bigger, offensively productive NBA player that’s 4.5 years younger (if they do wish to resign him to a long term deal).

I mean, for the Clippers, in this sense, they are just getting a PF that fills the same role as Powell did at SF, only this allows for more size u. The lineup, keep,Kawhi as more of a SF and keep his body from banging down low, and adding more size to the starting lineup, which with some of the teams in the West running the double big lineup now they kinda need otherwise they would and been beaten down low by teams if Kawhi cant hold up at PF

Exactly this. I also think there is sense in selling high on Powell, the nuggets series exposed some of his flaws. Collins is a good move to get more size and athleticism, and ease the rebounding/ guarding 4s burden on Kawhi’s body

Full disclosure, I am not a John Collins fan whatsoever, however adding him and Brook Lopez to an all-NBA/all-defensive caliber Zubac is such a win I don't even know what else to say about it.

Losing Norm Powell is a small price to pay for improving the frontcourt to this degree. Now Kawhi and Derrick Jones can just exclusively play on the wing and Batum can play the bench stretch 4.

Ainge held onto these vets so long, he got nothing for them.

It's a great trade for Miami.

Love and Anderson were certainly non-essential pieces for them and Powell can really play. So from their perspective, huge win.

I don't know how I feel about it for LAC. I am probably down too hard on Collins, but I don't love it.

Yeah I agree with this. Clippers could end up being the winners here getting Beal and Collins for Powell would be a clear win for them.

If the Clippers already think they have a deal worked out with Beal, this makes a ton more sense from their perspective.
