It’s good to see, but… everybody knows Luka somehow gains weight during the season. Every year. So yeah, he definitely needs to “keep it up”, as he says.

If he really does show up to camp having shed so much weight, I do wonder if his game might suffer a bit, even if it benefits his conditioning and long-term reliability. He uses his size well, especially in the lane.

"Skinny Luka" is an annual summer tradition
This was 3 years ago for example (he then gained weight during the season, as always)

Maybe this year will be the year who knows, with the trade+criticism
But still, I wouldn't expect it to last long.
Luka is gonna revert back to being himself at some point and enjoy life as he always has.

There may be some lens distortion in that photo. His face looks big compared to his body so I imagine it's shot with a wide angle. I do this with my cat all the time hahaha

His face looks big because for some reason he doesn't really have muscle definition. I assumes he lifting heavy based on those photos but man, he always looks like a dude from the streets with his physique.

His lack of care around his physical conditioning was always my #1 knock against him. Great to see him have a come to jesus moment and start putting the work in.

He's going to be trouble for sure.

I'm aware of it but it also looks like this year he might have added actual weight training in the off season. It's not just cutting back on food/alcohol, he looks more solid which also will help to burn fat as he goes through the season.

this is more an indictment on america's food supply than anything. luka always slims down in the summer but gets fat during the season eating all the same junk we eat here in the states

Guy is a millionaire he could have a private chef make him all the best food during the season.

No excuse for Luka to be eating McDonalds for dinner then scarfing down a family size bag of sour patch kids afterwards

Oh so easy to drink those calories on.

I hope he can sustain this for the rest of his career. So, he can prove the people on the internet and xenophobes in the NBA space.

While I'm skeptical as well, I do think there's legitimacy this time.

Two things stuck out:

1.) He revealed that he solely focused on strength training and didn't ball for a month. This was my main point of critique of Luka. In the past summers, like most Europeans, he didn't do any strength training. Instead, he probably just scrimmaged to get in shape. This means he was just shedding water weight but wasn't actually getting lean. That weight is really easy to gain back if you stop playing for a month. This time, the focus was on strength and not basketball.

2.) 250g of protein per day likely means these gains will remain. I doubt Luka ate more than 120g of protein per day during his first five seasons.
