The Lakers brand is they take care of stars. When Kobe was injured and past his prime the Lakers gave him the max. Protecting that brand and showing the world that they take care of their stars is more important than whoever they use the 15th roster slot on.

Having him at the end of your roster isn't really a big deal (most end of the bench guys usually only play in blow-outs, or games that don't matter). However if Daddy demands that Jr. gets quality play time (during important situations), then that might be a problem, especially if his lack of ability hurts the teams' chance to win.
Mark Walter won't tolerate demands from Lebron. The circus with Lebron getting his way would continue if the Buss family didn't sell the team. That's not the case with Mark Walter.

There is a big difference between Kobe and Bronny, who is only on the team because of Dad.

Mark Walter, as I mentioned when he became owner, won't tolerate how the Lakers have been operating, so now you see who has their farewell tour activated. He's far from being the Buss family. He's much more powerful.

The Lakers gave Kobe the max when he was old and broken down to show that they take care of stars. The Lakers gave LeBron’s son a guaranteed contract to show that they take care of stars.

Maybe Walker operates differently, but I think the Lakers want to show the world that they take care of stars.

NBA and the Lakers are about entertainment. Bronny is a curiosity to fans and catnip to LeBron haters. The league is more interesting with him in it. There are probably tons of 15 mans in the league that gets the spot cause they are vets and have been around or have agents who are connected. Bronny case is just more publicized.

Kobe generated record revenue for the Lakers at the time. He did his part financially to make the Buss family richer. The Lakers will forever profit from Kobe, so of course they took care of him. It goes both ways!

We back at this again? Get over it.

He sucks so what? He wont sniff legit minutes on this team either way.

I've seen no real growth in his game and he wasn't good to begin with. You could say this about other guys in the league too, and we know the NBA isn't about picking the best 450 guys that can play, this is just one of the more egregious cases simply because of nepotism.

You've spent more time analyzing this than the Lakers. This is the way the world works.
This is obviously entertaining for you and gives you a talking point. Had it been some random in that spot you would've never started a thread.
This is catnip for you and good for the NBA.

If he keeps LBJ happy and brings in marketing dollars, then he's one of the most valuable 15th men on any roster.

Do you think we have Thanasis on our roster for his stellar game play? The 15th man is often a lot more than just what he can do on the floor, which in most cases is absolutely nothing.

The Lakers profit from LeBron, and they sell Bronny jerseys.

People like to see LeBron and Bronny. It’s a story, as evidence by this thread. Also, if Wemby(or Flagg) is trying to get his son in the NBA someday, he may sign with the Lakers so they sign his son to a guaranteed 2 way contract.

What other 15th man has the crowd chanting his name cause they want to see him play?

Do they even make jerseys for other teams 15th man to be available for purchase online?

Jaden Smith was excellent in The Pursuit of Happyness and was good in The Karate Kid.
He clearly deserved his spot in Hollywood, but he clearly isn't motivated to continue, at least for now.
Its nepotism but Jade Smith proved himself and proved he deserved those roles.
Plus he (or Will Smith) didn't try to use nepotism to further himself as an adult actor...
So I respect Will Smith's choices with Jaden, whereas I don't respect LeBron pushing Bronny into the NBA.

He is, he is also an extremely inexpensive cost to keeping your GOAT candidate happy, an a no brainer of a pick and a contract.

Oh please, the Lakers didn't treat Shaq well when he had that infamous fall out with Kobe and Phil Jackson, and Dwight Howard (the first time around)

Also maybe they are too sentimental to their old aging cooked stars, Boston got at least one ring out of trading away an ageing PP and KG.

Being too loyal to Lebron and his needs doesn't sound like a solid plan if the goal is to win another championship imo.

Yup. Nothing wrong with getting an opportunity due to connections in my opinion, that's the way the world operates, the important part is that you prove you belong once you get the opportunity.

It is what it is. The bucks keep Thanasis on the roster to keep Giannis happy, but yeah Bronny is not an nba caliber player at this point.

It made LeBron happier. Whatever you think about Lakers' ''we take care of our stars'' mantra, it can be cringe, but there is truth to it and stars always wanted to play for them. and If having Bronny as 15th. man for a few years will help them convince other stars to ever sign for them even a bit, I think its a win. Everyone knows Bronny can't play, it is not about that. But they also gave Kobe that last contract where it was obviously not beneficial to a team if you just look at it from contemporary building perspective, but Kobe was their legend, they gave him his last huge deal, basically saying to everybody in a league - if you are this star playing for us, we will take care of you no matter what. And maybe it helped them signing LeBron years later. Now they taking care of LeBron, it is stupid they had to make a wish for his kid, but thats what LeBron wants, so wahtever, maybe next star is looking at this thinking - thats a good place to be.

Not to be a dick to the guy in the video, but jumping to "it's imposter syndrome" when he literally explains how Bronny is not a comfortable ball-handler against pressure (which is why he would be looking down!) is a strange choice.
