Warriors are going to be a major problem for as long as they are healthy. That's not an overreaction though, everyone should be able to see that.

People will actually think Luka will win MVP for putting up amazing numbers on a bad team.
(This isn’t a knock on Luka btw)

They are simply too old imo, probability of getting that roster healthy for playoffs is so low.
Like, staple of their roster is group of people who are all near 40.

Rockets will regret getting Durant.

The Blazers ran through the warriors starters in both preseason games, granted preseason but let’s wait to see gsw put on a show against someone besides the garbage lakers.

NBA Overreaction Season Prediction Time!!
***Well I did NOT have NBA betting ring on my Bingo Card this year. Haha. So that changes a couple things!!
I've had fun with these the past few years. I'm going to over-react to the first game of the season and predict what will happen for each team. I'll edit this list after watching enough of each team's first game. I'll also need to go back and look at last year's predictions and see how they turned up! let me know what y'all think!
Atlanta Hawks - Finally try to trade Trae Young to help shore up their defensive issues, make second round of playoffs. Jalen Johnson makes All-Star team.
Boston Celtics - fight way into Play-In range, add a big man for depth at the Trade Deadline, Jaylen Brown makes All-NBA Second Team.
Brooklyn Nets - worst team in NBA. But hey! They compete!! Cam Thomas tries to force his way out at the Trade Dealine.
Charlotte Hornets - they finnalllllyyyyy make the playoffs, get swept in the first round. Team comes together and Coach Lee gets 4th in COTY polls.
Chicago Bulls - they are on the right side of their constant battles with Miami in the Play-In. Matas Buzelis takes that next leap.
Cleveland Cavaliers - depth issues plague them all season, quietly shop Donovan Mitchell while public rumors go around they want to deal Darius Garland.
Dallas Mavericks - finding a real need for PG Kyrie comes back, deal some of their depth for Trae Young. Young opts out of his Player Option, find crickets in Free Agency. They make the Play-In again.
Denver Nuggets - the depth Jokic has been needing finally comes into play, only to get matched up against Wemby in the playoffs. Series goes to 6 games, Jokic is drained, get swept against OKC in West Semi's.
Golden State Warriors - Starting lineup shows its age and ekes into the Play-In as they balance their "load management" throughout the season.
Jonathan Kuminga wins Most Improved Player.
Houston Rockets - Missing Fred ValVleet, and to ease point guard pressure off Amen Thompson, trade for Tyus Jones when he becomes available. Meet
Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. Alperen Sengun named to All-NBA Second Team, Amen Thompson makes J-Dub ascension as All-Star, All-NBA
and All-NBA Defense this year.
Indiana Pacers - scrappy little bunch, they hang in the Play-in range. Ben Mathurin wins Most Improved Player.
Los Angeles Clippers - team loses defensive mindset they had last year, go all-in on LeBron to try and save season, he signs two-year extension.
Los Angeles Lakers - Luka is going to need a llloooooooootttt of help. He makes All-NBA as the Lakers miss the Play-In. LeBron waives his No-Trade
clause and gets dealt to the Clippers for John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Derrick Jones.
Memphis Grizzlies - high octane offense built around Ja Morant, they surprise people and make it into the Play-In but lose their first game and are out of the playoffs. Crawford makes All-Rookie First Team.
Miami Heat - the sky is blue, water is wet, the Heat try to trade for a star at the Trade Deadline, rinse, wash, repeat. Bam finishes third in DPOY voting.
Milwaukee Bucks - built around shooters, all three Antetokounmpo brothers set a record for most triple-doubles by three brother playing on the same team in the same season with 19.
Minnesota Timberwolves - Randle succumbs to old habits, sulks, trade rumors persist as they look to trade him for a PG and move Jaden McDaniels to their 4-spot, keeping Naz Reid as their super sub off the bench.
New Orleans Pelicans - well, Zion is finally healthy!! Team fires
New York Knicks - Finals bound!! Only to have to go up against the Thunder.
Oklahoma City Thunder - Repeat Champs, SGA wins back-to-back MVP. Teams inquire on Ajay Mitchell, trade Thunder a couple picks for him.
Orlando Magic - team finally clicks on offense with Desmond Bane handling the extra playmaking duties, letting Paolo Banchero focus on beasting on mismatches. Make Eastern Conference Finals.
Philadelphia 76ers - VJ Edgecombe wins ROTY. Sixers quietly field trade calls for Embiid, deal him for Pennie's on the dollar to get his contract off their books.
Phoenix Suns - Dillon Brooks makes All-NBA Defense, not much else happens for the Suns this year.
Portland Trail Blazers - make Play-In, hire Micah Nori away from Wolves after the Chauncey Billups fiasco, team starts to put it together once Scoot Henderson returns from injury.
Sacramento Kings - oh boy. Gonna be a lllooooooonnnnnngggg season for Kings fans. Malik Monk is dealt for front court help.
San Antonio Spurs - WeMVP. Averages 50-15-7-2-4. Lose to Jokic in playoffs, it's the last playoff series Wemby loses for the next 11 years.
Toronto Raptors - with their depth on the wing and Scottie Barnes finding his old footing, the Raptors are a Top 6 team in the East.
Utah Jazz - hey, what do you know!! The Jazz win 30 games!! Team field calls for Lauri Markannen, deal him to San Antonio.
Washington Wizards

Kevin Durant joining the rockets will be his 2nd best move of his career(after joining warriors)I think he has a legit shot to get another ring.

Re: The Overreactions Thread - 2025 Season Start Edition
I still believe it was the right move for Houston, but they are going to see the pains that Suns fans saw with him where he makes boneheaded decisions with the ball. Unacceptable turnovers in many cases. With FVV out, if KD is one of the primary ball handlers, he'll maybe have 3-5 a game.

Lakers will struggle mightily. Luka demands a trade before the trade deadline.
Sengun will be an MVP candidate.

Nice work - That trade is actually legal according to the Spotrac trade checker. I was going to suggest swapping Lebron for Kawhi (considering all of the Aspiration stuff, both guys likely wanting to stay in LA and Kawhi's apparent preference to not play with Lebron). Lebron for Kawhi would require the Clippers sending a minimum player to a 3rd team to be legal (not a big deal though). I can't imagine why the Clippers would trade for Lebron - but as a Laker's fan I'd be down for either deal.

Sengun is for real
he's been elite for stretches in the past, injuries derailed it a couple of times but now he's also continued to develop as a shooter and a player and has an actual NBA body
overeaction is that I wouldn't take any big not named Jokic or Wemby over him rn, he's a top 3 big
edit: kinda forgot about Giannis, so maybe top 4 big

The grizzlies will be fully healthy this year and make a run deep….What?
5 guys out with injury opening night?
Sounds about right.

Re: The Overreactions Thread - 2025 Season Start Edition
It was actually stressful to watch DeAndre Ayton play. Honestly hadn't really seen him much since his Phoenix days. My God. Cannot catch the ball, lopes around the floor aimlessly, just looks like a guy with tools who had never played basketball but thought he'd give it a try.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

People are going to overreact to the rockets and at some point KD will simply breakdown because hes 37 years old. So ask yourself how would you view the rockets with a banged up KD and no FVV.
