POR has avoided guys like him for 20 years.

Tough call.
Magic have no picks to sweeten the pot, used em all on Bane.

Plus if the Magic don't wanna trade any of their core 4, trying to match salary is just a poo poo platter of players.

My biggest concern about Ja (excluding off court issues) is that his game hasn't improved at all over the past 4 years.

Specifcally:
Never developed a 3pt shot
Makes lots of unforced turnovers
Defensively is very inconsistent

He is an extremely athletic undersized point guard who relies on speed and getting to the rim. When was the last time that translated to a championship? This is effectively the category of Iverson, Wall, Westbrook, Rondo.

I can see the Raps and Heat being into him. They both badly lack an elite source of rim pressure to kick start their offense.

Boston too. He'd fit in nice with Tatum when he gets back, and if Boston can rebuild that 3-point bombing machine, Ja would be pretty deadly as the guy in the middle of that.

I just would not touch Ja right now. After the Suns experience with Ayton, we just don't really want a player that has issues between his ears. Ja has so much talent and potential, but so did Ayton. A guy like that can tank his own career so quickly, but also the locker room.

I would hope my team wouldn’t offer a damn thing. Declining athleticism, can’t shoot, and one of the worst locker room presences in the league. Hard pass.

I think a desperate team like the Kings would make the most sense. They don’t have much to lose anyways.

Don’t want Ja on Toronto because he’s not a floor spacer or defender.

Would like to have IQ and Ochai or Gradey be salary to help facilitate a 3 teamer.

Example:
Ja/Mogbo/Chucky Hepburn to Minnesota
Conley, Reid, Ingles and Leonard Miller to Toronto
IQ/Dick/Dillingham and picks to Memphis

Minnesota gets a dynamic duo with Ja/Ant at guard. Gobert helps cover his defensive shortcomings. Raises their ceiling if he buys into a winning situation. Reid can’t start with their other core guys so losing him to massively upgrade the pg position may help

Memphis full on tanks to try to reset around JJJ/Edey and Coward. Dick and Dillingham have upside as young players

Toronto gets a big that can space the floor and can start. Poeltl becomes expendable in the offseason. Conley and Ingles are expiring and Miller is a Canadia we liked in his draft year. Getting no minutes in Minnesota

Put him and Zion together, neither guy has lived up to the hype or expectations.

Reminds me a little of when the Wolves traded for Beasley while still having Love.

Get 2 top picks from the same draft, let em sink together.

That is the proper fit. Morant is hard to gauge because of everything everyone has already said. His troubles have lessened his value while his skill set is high.

NOP send Herb Jones/Jordan Poole 2 FRPs (have to give up some value)
Memphis sends Morant/Konchar

Folks will say how Jones is not available, but NOP needs to roll the dice sometime. Jones/Murphy/Williamson is not getting it done, no matter how much folks are enamored with them.

Morant gives Pels the PG they need. Jones gives the Griz the SF defender they need.

Bidders will likely only be the desperate teams:
-Milwaukee
-Sacramento
-NOP

Not that the Lakers would entertain this but for the thread.

Rui, Maxi, Gabe, Knecht, FRP, SRP and all the swaps most likely again Lakers wouldn't even entertain it.

We would end up keeping Reaves, could you imagain lineup with

Ja/Luka/Reaves LOL
My Go Team
Magic, Jordan, Bird, Duncan, Shaq

My Counter
Stockton, Kobe, Pippen, Rodman, Dirk

Today's Team
Luka, SGA, Tatum, Giannis, Wemby

I don't think he would be a good fit with the Warriors so no offer would be made.

I think Ja has the ability to be more than a Temu version of Iverson.

I think he could be an Isiah Thomas type, where he is a leader via his play style and get other players to follow him.He doesn't have to be THE LEADER (TM).

Let Ja get his pick and rolls so he can get his 25 points, but also tell him to get 10 to 15 assists a game. He'll be fine.

He has a high level of basketball genius. He also doesn't need the ball all of the time. He isn't a Trae Young/Steve Nash type of PG that pounds the ball. Ja can do back door cuts and hand offs.

He just needs a coach that has enough respect and cache that he can't pout and get a response.

Spo had to stand up to LeBron, he had to stand up to Jimmy Butler, he isn't gonna have a problem with Ja Morant.

What would the trade look like?

I could see a weird deal of:
Griz sending Morant/Clarke
Heat send (hold your horses) Rozier/Wiggins/Future FRP.

Since Rozier is out for the year, it is really a salary savings on a guy expiring. Just not sure if he is allowed to be traded with legal issues/suspension.
Wiggins still gives Griz a SF who has winning experience.

The problem is that Ja needs a roster and offense built around his skill set, or you end up in the same position as the Grizzlies. There are legitimate questions as to what such a team's ceiling is and how willing a team should be to attempt that.

I suspect that limits his appeal to hopeless teams (Kings & Pelicans), but maybe a team like the Heat talks itself into doing something unwise.

I mean.. I would take him on the Suns if it means ditching Green. Morant actually plays a position of need for us, so there's that.
