Has it been established when Curry's peak was? He's known for his 3pt shooting so has there really been a consistent drop in his shooting?

I found Kobe more entertaining to watch and think he was the better player but if im starting a team from scratch im taking Curry. His last finals win against Boston a few years ago was by far his most impressive.

Curry shot .436 downtown from 2009-10 to 2018-19... whereas from 2020-21 to 2025-26 he's shot .406
So his shooting has declined, and that could be because he's lost some athleticism, since he relies on off-the-ball movement to get open.

Its tough shoot 40% when you attempt a lot of them, last season:
Steph Curry .397 downtown 11.2 attempts per game
Ant Edwards .395 downtown 10.3 attempts per game

Yep, I agree, and even better when you're the focus of the defense

They were both entertaining in different ways.

Kobe because you knew he was going to shoot and he would bring out a bevy of moves that countered all your defensive moves and still manage to get a shot off, often with defenders draped all over him. He was both infuriating and mesmerising to watch at the same time. Yet he was successful more often than not. Even as a Lakers fan, I was yelling that "bs mofo!" even as the shots went in. Kobe didn't require a team to get him what he wanted, in fact, most of what Kobe wanted to do was denied to him and he still managed to get to his spots. Kobe was just that manically relentless. And he maintained it even when his athleticism started to wane. This is when most fans really started appreciating Kobe for what Kobe was.

Curry is a different excitement, you knew Curry was going to cut and run around screens with 1.5-2 players shadowing him just to deny him the ball, and he would often be corralled, only to get the give and go and get free to bury a shot that you knew would go in. A team was still required to free Curry to be Curry. In a way, he was a bigger beneficiary of Kerr's motion offense than Kobe was of the Triangle. Curry was also smaller and more relatable than the 2+ metre tall hyper athletic wing athletes. You rooted for Curry as a f* you to NBA establishment, especially as Curry's primary rival through those dynasty years happened to be the biggest apex athlete of them all - Lebron.

Steph’s heaters were a sight to see and definitely amongst the best to watch. But Kobe’s heaters were on another level. Also his footwork and post moves were things of beauty.

Curry

Peak Kobe missed a lot of shots. I watched every single one of them.

Kobe was extremely frustrating to watch. Was always held back from being truly great due to his ego. Steph is the opposite of that.

Both were fun to watch for different reasons but Curry's shooting was just superhuman.

Kobe easily. The absolute barrage of comically difficult shots he would take and make, and the masterful footwork

Maybe even more than the shooting I love the off ball movement, I don't know why, but guys just chasing players around screens and then getting lost and confused and not knowing whether to switch or stay is just super fun...and then both guys go to the shooter and the screener is wide open near the basket. Fun stuff to watch.

I hadn't thought of that but you're right. He was also a very very good screen-setter, which is impressive at his size.

One has a MVP that made it to The Finals without him

The other has a player that was winless 0-12 (swept, swept, swept) in the play-offs as their partner

One dunks well the other doesn’t

One plays defense at a rate to have the most all-defense team selections all-time for a guard and the other is a sub-par defender

One played in the easiest era to score in all time

One played in the toughest era to score in all-time against the best defense all-time

Curry for sure, but he had the advantage of having one of the best, most watchable teams of all time in his peak. And I mean this, pre Durant, 2014-16.

Kobe was more explosive so if we are talking entertaining in terms of finishing ability then kobe. If we are talking impossible shot making its steph although kobe hit his fair share of those.

It's not a ___ measuring contest, this is a question of who people enjoy watching more. I know sometimes people get into their feels about any sort of comparison question where an idol of theirs pops in, but the question is a question of pure subjectivity. "You", and "find more entertaining", not really anything that requires convincing or disputing. If you find Kobe more entertaining, great, I thought he was an amazingly entertaining player. If more people find what Curry did "more" entertaining, great, so be it, doesn't make Kobe less entertaining and neither does vice versa.
