Yup, instead, they signed a crap sandwich of McGee, Beasley, Stephenson, and Rondo. Just horrible spacing all around. I guess it all worked out the year after though.
G - James | Rondo
G - Bradley | Caruso
F - Green | Caldwell-Pope
F - Davis | Kuzma | Morris
C - McGee | Howard

I swear he’s either horrible and a blackhole or all nba. I can’t even keep up with where we’re at depending on the season with this guy.

To be fair, I’m happy to see it, and wish the wolves the best after blowing up a contender and looking mediocre through the transition
Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.

And Randle only had TWO bad games in the 2025 playoffs, both were vs. OKC but he had THREE excellent games vs. OKC!

Randle came to New York when the Knicks were in the throes of one of the worst stretches in franchise history. He poured everything into helping pull the team out of the gutter. And now he felt left behind.

The isolation and the narrative took him to a dark place. He self-medicated with marijuana (the league stopped testing players for marijuana use in 2023). He withdrew from those around him. Depression, anger and anxiety started to suffocate him.

“At the end of that time, I was kind of at my darkest moment,” he said. “Just miserable, like in a way where I just was not having fun going to work every single day.”

There were strains both at work and at home. He would return to the apartment from rehabbing his shoulder and retreat to a private room away from his family, wallowing in his own misery.

“I would just be in there watching TV in a dark room,” he said. “I didn’t even want to show my face. I kind of just wanted to be left alone and, like, in hiding. Just very frustrated and angry and all those different emotions. It just wasn’t a good place to be in.”

Here’s the in-depth article about Julius Randle, the human being, if anyone is interested.

Finch:

Go back to what we said initially: We know who we are now and what we need to be and how we need to play coming into this season. Julius showed that he could do that and so that needs to be the baseline, for him and for everyone.

Above and beyond that, Julius has a high “care” factor. He really does. I think he is one of the most misunderstood players in the league. As a person, for sure, he cares and is emotional. At times he wears it on his sleeve a little too much and at times it affects his next-play ability. But he has reached a point — when you talk to him, or he has become very proactive at coming to talk to you about what the team needs and wants from him. He is ahead of the curve on that a lot of the time.

I think he is in a place where he is embraced, protected and valued. All that stuff. Whether it is from Tim (Connelly), ET (defensive coach Elston Turner), or myself, or Anthony. All these people that are around him. Letting him know that it is okay to make mistakes. It’s not New York; you’re not going to be criticized for everything.

We love him and we want him here. And we have proved that to him. As a result, he was willing to do whatever we needed him to do. Now maybe — all these paths are not always easy. But we got there.

Lakers should've kept him. "The Doctor" would've been a perfect pairing with AD.

Always liked Randle. He plays with so much heart
His flaws always get exposed (unfairly i might add) so nice to see a thread where he gets his flowers.

I don't think he would've have been able to play this well in New York without a real defensive anchor next to him like now. His fit next to Rudy in the has been dominate early year as a +23.3 (highest of any pairing with him + Ant next @ +17.3). At some point, we need to put some respect on Gobert's impact on the team and how much he did to unlock first KAT and now Ju next to him.

Playing next to and off Ant has really unlocked something special for Randle and it's not even a contract year

Also who they hell calls him "The Doctor"

Maybe.

We also didn't do as badly in the summer of 2019 as first thought. Randle was part of our resurrection. I'll always be grateful for that.

Towns was great for the Knicks - both teams succeeded with the trade.

KAT is extension eligible right now for two years, $150 mil. Has there been any discussions?

It was a great haul considering they gave up Towns because of luxury tax concerns long-term and got a guy that can come in and put up numbers that are similar while continuing to take steps as a team. It honestly was a risky gamble looking back considering how Randle was looked at for a period.

Always like to see win-win/mutually beneficial trades for all parties in trades like these (ditto the Caurso and Giddey deal) where all players, teams and fans are satisfied with the net outcome.

Always thought it was a silly trade by NYK. Randle + DDV>> KAT. No matter how you slice it.

KAT and Randle same. Both one way players who need to be hidden and play next to a rim protector too. Yeah if everything's perfect for them they're good but you can't build your team around a 1B. Too many things need to go right for them to have the perfect situation.

Also we get this with Randle every season as far as I can remember. He has a good phase then he reminds you he can't keep it up and you remember why he keeps getting traded.

Happy for him, playing will but I've learned my lesson. No he's not stepping up permanently.

More like Julius "The Feldsher" Randle. But he's having a stellar season indeed.

I find Randle a squillion times more entertaining than KAT, because Randle has the most beautiful fade-away jumper God ever invented, plus its extremely exciting to watch Randle handle the ball with his fancy footwork, unlike KAT who looks out-of-control handling the ball... Plus Randle is a "banger" in the post :wordyo:

Randle is permanently great in Minnesota, because in the 2025 playoffs he averaged 21.7 points, .502 field, .385 threes, and was excellent in 13 of the 15 games!
Also was excellent in the regular season after all-star break with .523 field, .398 downtowners :wordyo:
