Rest in Peace! He played really well against the Lakers, giving Ben Wallace some respite during the 2004 Finals.

I first started watching Laker games as a kid in the early 90’s and Elden was one of my favorite players. I know he’s more of a role player, but as a kid I thought he was a star. It’s a shame he passed away at such a young age. RIP Elden, I can still hear Chick Hearn saying your name.

I was a huge fan of Elden, especially his time in Charlotte. That team with David Wesley, Baron, Coleman, Eddie Jones, Bobby Phills (RIP) and Anthony Mason (RIP)... I feel old.

I remember those years because as a Laker fan it always felt weird for me to see him wearing a different jersey. He was a part of one of the most exciting Laker teams ever. There was about a decade long era between the end of Showtime and the start of the Kobe/Shaq era. Those teams with Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Ceballos. Ah man, they were so scrappy and got the Lakers out of a dark time. This is sad news. RIP Elden. Too young man.

He was definitely a league fixture when I started following the NBA. He was part of some memorable teams. Played with Magic, Shaq, and Kobe with the Lakers. Started for some pretty fun B.Diddy Hornets teams. Obviously the classic 2004 Pistons squad. He was old by then but they needed some minutes out of him in the finals against Shaq.
