Actually, if you've been following the Kings closely, it's been 83 games. It's the same Mike from last year, just healthier meaning more efficient shooting.

However, when guys like Salmons and Artest attack the basket, they have the mentality of getting their own shot off first. This is often why they have such high TO rates, because they find themselves in double teams and don't have that great court vision off the dribble to find open men. I think Bibby has that kind of court vision, and has shown it in the past. He's an excellent passer off the dribble who, with the right mentality, can create high percentage looks.

Agreed.

Beno is similar to Mike that he's good off the dribble drive, but not good enough to consistently rely upon. He'd be an excellent back up as a poor mans Bibby off the bench.

Agreed.

Ron and Miller get most of their assists finding cutters from the high post, but that doesn't work 100% of the time. That cannot be the only source of a successful offense, IMO. If we want this whole experiment to work in Sacramento, I think Bibby creating offense has to be a part of that.

Agreed.

I agree though, that after playing with such great high post bigs it might take a while for Bibby to regain his aggressiveness. I just hope it happens at all.

I doubt it, I expect him to be traded by the deadline.

I was surprised it was 0 too, but an assist is an overrated stat imo, kind of like a RBI, maybe worse. You get penalized if the shot doesn't go in, if the feed is so good that the defenders foul from being too slow, plus the mult ways you can contribute to points without it officially counting as an assist

Bibby will not average high number of assists with the Kings because the team have mainly 2 iso players in Artest and Salmons, and still has Miller who Bibby and Kevin are very familiar with, and trust him to get them the ball in good situations.
He's still a PG, if you watch his games from last season (I'm not counting this last game) you'll see how he has the decisions of how to control the pace of the offense, when to run (which he does rarely mind you) and usually he's the one that initiates the play, his issues last year were mainly shooting % (his strongest area) and defense, our hope is for him to improve in these areas, plus the team has changed a lot this season, it'll take him (and the others) some time to adapt, Theus has done a good job adjusting a very dynamic roster until now, I'm optimistic in this regard, we'll see.

I agree with the fact that his assist numbers went down when he started playing with Webber/Divac/Miller. He was a legitimate PG before having to change his game. However, I don't feel that he still has those skills anymore. If he was asked to become a true PG today, he wouldn't be able to do it anymore. His slashing ability sucks in comparison to what it was before. He's basically become a very good spot up shooter. He still can get u like 6 APG but thats by default because when ur the PG and u handle the ball that much, ur gonna luck into assists. He's still a very good player if healthy though... not trying to take away from his overall game.
