The problem isn't that WEst can't guard centers in those other lineups, its just that Hilton is FAR worse trying to guard PF's, so he does it out of necessity. West can guard anyone, he's really strong, 6'9, with a 7'4 wingspan, he really doesn't have a lot of issues guarding guys.

So Chandler does have a significant impact on the defensive end. And since the Hornets have been killing teams defensively (look at what they did to the Spurs tonight holding them to less than 80 points) I don't think you can say that Chandlers impact isn't significant.
It may be taken for granted when you are killing teams. Just ask any team that has a turnstile at C eg. Amare, Kwame, Eddy Curry, Brad Miller.........

i know paul runs everything, but perhaps the biggest difference has been peja stojakovic being healthy this season.
he doesn't have to shoot well to command respect, and when he does, like the third quarter of the game friday versus the clippers, he can go on runs himself. he followed a clippers run with 5 threes (pargo hit one too) as we went on a 22-2 run

Paul for sure. Every starts and ends with Paul. But...
The Hornets have won when:
Paul was out.
West was out
Peja was out
etc...
Hornets are just a quality team

The Hornets are just a well-built team. They havea franchise point guard, a lethal three point shooter, a 20-10 PF and a great defensive center. What more could you ask for. That's good enough to compete, even in the West.

Kwame is an excellent post defender, what are you talking about? He's terrible on offense and a weak defensive rebounder but he's no turnstile.

Comparing him to Bynum and Kwame does not provide the shot blocking or rebounding that a Chandler does. He can only hang his hat on post defense so long. It wasn't so great in San Antonio.
Yeah it was Tim Duncan, who got waxed by the Hornets..........

however i do want to mention that chandler is one of those allstar role players that does an exceptional job fitting into their role. hes a big part of the that team success. however chandler is not the 2nd best player on that team. david west is easily the 2nd best because hes polished offensively and has dramaticly improved defense from pervious seasons.

i didn't read this whole thread so i dont if somebody said this or not. chris paul is the main reason chandler is playing as good as he is. paul makes players around him better. its that simple.

Tyson was close to nothing in Chicago, then blows up in New Orleans, get's involved in the offence, more chances - just being more involved. That lead to better play on both ends of the floor.
It can't have anything to do with Chris Paul, arguably the best point guard in the league, because in Chicago Tyson played with some of the best penetrating/set up pure points in history - Jalen Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Jamal Crawford, etc.
