It was a financial deal more than anything. Maloofs do not want to pay the tax for a team that cant make the playoffs.

Marion had his first Heat game vs LA, Shaq will most likely have his first Suns game vs LA, and now Bibby his first ATL game vs LA.

Really? Is he that decent?

Because we've have the curse of the Jason Terry ever since he left.

We passed on Paul and Deron Williams. Acie Law has had a rookie season too.

If he's as good as JT when he left, we should make the playoffs.

You don't understand how bad TLue and Anthony Johnson are

I am surprised that Atlanta is trying to make a trade... it usually take like a half a dozen people to sign off any move they make. I never really thought much of Williams. He was a big reach but perhaps he can help the Kings morso than the Hawks. The deal is basically cap relief and Williams for Bibby.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Atlanta and Sacramento being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Atlanta and Sacramento had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Wow, well I actually like it for both teams... Kings get future flexibility, an above-average complementary big prospect (who I'm interested in and have kept an eye on), and the Kings get to keep Justin Williams. Also one step closer to rebuilding.

Good stuff for the Hawks, I've thought for a while now Bibby would be a fit there.

As far as Ron Artest being traded? Until something substantial develops, I just don't really see anything there for Artest, that says it's a better than ordinary possibility he'll be dealt. Denver doesn't fit into that catergory.

Yup.

BBIB wrote:I don't know how old Bibby is but he can't be older than AJ and Lue and he definitely can't be worse on offense or defense

Actually, Bibby's a bad defensive player, this is also well known generally. Outside of going for/getting steals, and surprisingly has been able to block shots more than on occasion.

Your PG defense doesn't get any better.

This might be the end of Childress' time in Atlanta, though; not including the cap holds/extensions of Chill and Smith, Atlanta has $45m on the books for next season, divided amongst eight players. Re-signing Smith would put them roughly at the cap, and from there, it's ~$12m to the luxury tax. If Childress is offered the full MLE, that would leave Atlanta scrambling to sign five players to fill out the roster for just over $6m combined.

Now, that's certainly doable...but even still, is Atlanta's ownership willing to field a payroll of $65m, though it would be only for one season (after which Bibby expires)? It would be terrific if they have decided to open their wallets for a good young team, but it would also go against their past practices.

We need someone who can score. I'm not a big fan of Bibby, but with what we gave up I'm not too upset. I thought we'd have to give up Chill to get a decent player. This move means Law can play more too since he'll only have one other PG taking minutes.

This ATL-MIA replay game is going to become, virtually, a completely different game than it was a few months ago...

What's funny is that was like AJ's one huge impact game. He was ballin at the end.
