The better question is why SHOULD you be surprised if they end up with Pick #1 or #2? They currently have a Top 5 WORST Record in the League. I'd be more suprised if they don't end up with a Top 3 Pick.

Stern getting the Knicks relevant again is the last notch he needs after overlooking the KG to Celts and then Pau to Lakers trades.

Uh, Portland won the lottery over Boston and Memphis last year. It doesn't have to be rigged for us to win although we'll probably need some help since we can't win in anything.

it's amazing that the Knicks haven't won a title since 1973
35 years?

they do need to go with a major youth movement out there but not too young. the NY media is too intense for such young players to flourish in. they need to stick with 3 and 4 year collegians.

unfortunately the best picks again this year are frosh/sophs. but the pressure to save the NY franchise is way too much for a couple of freshmen players.

they have to find a coach that can protect them from the media and let them develop.

are you really complaining about someone who let your city get another franchise after you couldn't draw fans for the first one, and can't draw fans now? You must be kidding me, oyu are lucky Stern was in charge, any other sensible person would not have brought a team back to Charlotte.

Oh man I hope its not the whole Ewing situation all over again.

First Boston
Then LA
Now NY
He is trying to get the major markets better.

He just didnt give NY the #1 overall last yaer because it would look to obivious.

People will look to anything to make a conspiracy theory, just look at this board from the summer. Celtics don't get a top two pick and it's Stern punishing them for tanking, then they land Garnett and Ray and suddenly Stern forced Mchale to make the trade to make an east coast team relevant again. :nonono:

Yeah, considering the Knicks didn't have their #1(it belonged to the Bulls), I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been that obvious.

Hopefully he's hinting that Isiah will be gone by next year.

The knicks are clearly the most important team in the NBA because of the huge market that is NY.
Stern is just predicting (He thinks) that the Knicks will be better next year, how can they really be much worse?
If he's wrong, so what?

The Knicks could end up with the most ping-pong balls, get the 1st pick and the conspiracy nuts would still have a field day with it.

I believe they acutally let teams send representatives to watch the lotto balls now.

It'd be hard to fix.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Charlotte was top of the league in attendance until a strike, a sex case against the owner, a front office who wouldn't resign any good and drafted players we had, all happened in one season.

Any other commish would have let a team back in Charlotte. See: the Texans, Browns, etc.

I don't believe so. Teams still act shocked when they win.
