Exactly. I just don't understand why they just can't play consistent defense (both perimeter and inside). They play solid defense for about 6 or 7 minutes a game but then just check out and only dedicate themselves to offense. Scrubs like Darko have career nights against us, and it's getting old. This team is still weak (soft).

They will make noise in the playoffs but they won't come out of the West.

WTF!! You wanted to know their cap situation. Since you are a Celtics fan I was letting you know that it is less then the Celtics so you have some reference. Get you panties out of a bunch.

Legit? I don't think so without Bynum being fairly in-shape and playing a notable role.

They're just not as good overall without him, especially defensively.

I still think they have a good chance to make it into the latter rounds, though.

I don't think they were title contenders then, but a darkhorse title contender, and would surely make significant noise in the playoffs.

Once they got Gasol, and then originally back then Bynum would be back during the regular season (latter March, early April). I thought they'd be contenders. But, obviously things have changed quite a bit since with various things.

Considering you post on the Celtics team board more then any other team board and you jock KG, Pierce and Ray Allen like they are going out of style I am going to have to say yea you are a Celtics fan. Even though you are a Raptors fan you are also a Celtics fan.

Also, I am pretty sure I am older then you "child".

the lakers are 19-5 with pau gasol. i'd call them title contenders even without andrew bynum. i don't expect them to beat the spurs or the suns, but they have a chance.

okay there. i just got done saying sweet nothing about td. that must mean i'm a spurs fan.

go to the raptors board. then you'll realize why i try to avoid posting there.

and the hornets board is a ghost town, so i usually visit some hornets blogs and hornetsreport.com for some laughs and paranoia about the team leaving. good times.

i love the panties comment though. that wasn't sexist at all.

just childish. so thats why i called you a child. but since you are "pretty sure" that you are older, than you must be right.

i just wrote antawn jamison is the real mvp of the wizards, so that must mean i'm a wizard fan.

i think shane battier needs DPOY consideration, so that must mean i'm a houston fan....

i didn't realize i couldn't post on different team boards. the c's board is civil.

i don't jock anyone like you jock the kobester i bet.

Lakers have problem with athletic teams. Gasol is too slow to rotate on pick and roll, and isn't good at boxing out. Lamar is average rebounder but he ain't going to get it against bigs, and especially the suns with shaq. Kobe's kobe. Point guards like many in the league cannot defend at all but isn't as bad as smush parker. They are going to have to play perfect basketball.

Sarah, you are always welcome in the Jazz board, even if you CP3 homer.

By the way people, yes they are a legit contender, and this ESPN analysis best explains it...

lol, i'll be eaten alive.

i love our new nickname - whorenets is it?

the whole hornets/jazz hate seems so one sided sometimes.

new orleans fans are too drunk to get into a debate of deron or chris.

lamar is MUCH better than an average rebounder. the one thats going to struggle to rebound is pau, not lamar.

You know how crazy we are, our greatest enemies are the Thuggets (from enver, sorry no 'D'), and you know that everyone wants the Whorenets to go down because of the uber biased media love. But still, many of us do respect CP3 fully, and agree he should be MVP because he has had a better season.

Anyways, back to the topic, I think that the lakers are as legit as the Mavs, Jazz, Suns, Spurs, and Whorenets are. Losing to Bobcats and injured blazers doesn't makeup for the best case of sole legitimacy.

if the Lakers somehow make it to the second round, then I would say they have a chance at the finals. as of now no because the bad news on Ariza and Bynum.

11.5 is the league leader as far as power forwards (duncan). if you go by 82games.com take on the position players play, lamar is actually tied with carlos boozer for best rebounding power forward.

if you count all positions, lamar is tied for 9th. this is all while playing 35 games next to bynum's 10.2 rpg and 24 games next to gasol's 8.4 rpg.

point is lamar as an "average rebounder" is laughable.
