I think the Lakers have a clear advantage, especially with homecourt, over the Spurs/Hornets. Like most other Laker fans I think the Hornets would be the better matchup because the Lakers can exploit the Hornets back court.
Paul can get his but he isn't going to bother Fisher or intimidate Farmar like DWill can.
Kobe has a matchup advantage over everyone the Hornets could put on him. Kobe will do to the Hornets what he did to the Jazz, get Peterson, Bonzi in foul trouble and force the double. The difference between doubling Kobe and doubling Duncan is that the Lakers interior passing is awesome. They will be passing for not only open 3's but dunks. The Spurs are too dependent on Bowen hitting open 3's for success.
The matchup that the Hornets have to win is Peja vs Walton/Rad/and possibly Ariza. When the Hornets killed the Lakers in LA it was Peja having the big game. But I think the Spurs have set up the blueprint on stopping that. Stay with Peja. Not that the Lakers haven't shown they won't blow perimeter assignments.
I will say in this series if Peja has a big game of say 15-20 points and 3 or 4 three point makes then the Hornets will probably win the game.
I think the front line matchup will equal out with a slight advantage if any to the Lakers. With West's back injury it will affect the Hornets offense and his ability to stay with Odom off the dribble. West has had it easy with Duncan getting help with double teams. But the Hornets will probably be doubling Kobe and possibly Gasol and opening things up for LO to go one on one vs West and I see Odom winning that.
I also think the Lakers bench will play better vs the less physical Hornets bench. And if Ariza comes back the Lakers overall defense will improve substantially imo.
Now the Spurs give the Lakers much more matchup problems because they have Bowen/Udoka to put on Kobe and won't double as often. Plus I don't think the Lakers have anyone who can hold Duncan unlike the Hornets have in Tyson Chandler.......

Go Hornets!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a nice, competitive WCF. Obviously I think we match up better with NO because they have no one that can stop our big 3. Kobe will go off on them, as will Gasol and Odom. My only real concern is the bench and their inability to hit open shots as of late.
If we face the Spurs, it's going to be a much more difficult series, so let's hope the Hornets take care of business.
If it's the Hornets, I say Lakers in 5.
If it's the Spurs, I say Lakers in 7.

Lakers win in 5 either series. They just matchup MUCH better with both teams than they did the Jazz. Spurs would be the toughest draw, but still, they don't have that much offense to take it to LA the way the Lakers are playing.
One thing though, the Lakers' D has improved during the Jazz series, but expect Duncan or Paul to get the calls that Boozer/Okur and Williams didn't (constantly) get, and that could get your guys in foul trouble and disrupt your game.
I still say Lakers in 5 regardless.

Siempre con mi isla del encanto!!
