You know what I don't understand? In the age of TMZ and paparazzi hiding in your garbage can, not a single rumor, or hint about what the child's illness may be, has leaked out. Nothing.

You would think some lowlife would break the news of the child's illness for a quick buck, but to my knowledge not a single thing has been offered in the media as to what is wrong with the child.

Interesting.

AI isn't relevant to the main stream media. As basketball fans, he has a bigger presences in our mind. Doesn't help that he's been bounced around and on the decline of his career.

That's a mature viewpoint.

Also, her staying with him while he was serving what was thought to be a five year jail sentence and an end of a career before it even got started, trumps all of that.

Either way, I agree with the poster who said that this is sad, especially for the kids.

I really think he might not handle this well. I remember him talking about how he can't stand to be away from her. So much so that he didn't want her to go back to college. He was like "can't she do it online or something?"

Reminds me of Jim McIllivaine's situation. His wife filed for divorce the week he received his last check from his buyout.

If his daughter's actually in the hospital with a serious medical condition, you won't get a leak. Not only do people get fired for that, but there can be criminal repurcussions when dealing with someone of that age.

Yea, because whenever we feel sorry for someone, we have to justify it to the standard that is basically everything worse that is going on in the world. Children have been dying in Africa for decades and you're telling me you've never felt bad for anyone in your life? Surely they were better off and had been given a better opportunity than those kids.

There is no shame or blame in feeling for the guy. A sick child and a divorce can really happen to anyone, no matter how much money you make or the opportunity you were given.

Get a clue.

hahahahahha my point exactly. Feel sorry for dying kids in Africa. Dont waste a nanosecond feeling sorry for some punk a** POS that had everything and has lost it due to his own prideful, selfish behavior.

Reading comprehension at its best. I blame the school system.

This happens a lot. Like, a lot a lot. A player retiring means a completely different life for his wife than when he's playing. The divorce rate for NBA players is around 75%, with most of the divorces clustered to the period within two years after retirement.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the guy. Was never a huge A.I. fan, but I hope he is able to pull thru all of this with his insanity still intact!

Feel sorry for the kids. But it tells a real story if she chooses to divorce him now during such a hard time, his dedication and his concern for his daughter has to be a bit faux, partying and clubing during all of this most likely doesnt set well with her either.

I don't understand this. Why can't someone feel bad for several different things at the same time? Your reasoning is fallacious.

Ya this is a common mistake people make. All problems are relative to your environment. You can't discount people's troubles because someone else somewhere else has a worse problem than you. That actually makes it worse because you're degrading their feelings.

"My mom died"
"There's people in other countries who's whole family dies"
"OH NOW I FEEL BETTER! THANKS!"

Yep me too, I know its not his nature to be a role player but imagine that great starting lineup with a happy and focused Iverson coming off the bench for even more firepower. If the Grizzlies had any sort of depth they would be very dangerous.
