It would be convenient for checking out game times for my teams, as well as concentrating all the discussion that's going on about them.

Granted, I'd prefer that it could be customized so I could replace the Canes with my Seminoles...

Whilst i hate all this attention the 3 d bags are getting, i hope the hype gets out of control and that they fail, so all non Heat posters can have there day.

I don't think a 14 page thread on RealGM really justifies anything. The billionaires in charge of ESPN aren't sitting at their PC's going "OMG I THINK THIS MIGHT GET TO 15 PAGES". There's a 15 page thread about Carlos Boozer breaking his hand. Good job Carlos, get 'em talking!

Discussion has to lead to continued interest in visiting the actual website they create for it to be worthwhile. I'm sure a lot of people will check it out initially, but what masochist really cares about the Miami Heat enough to want to go continually visit a website dedicated purely to them and read about how their practices are going? Aside from Heat fans of course.

disgusted by this? .... why would anyone be disgusted by this

Boston, LA , Chicago have huge markets so they have their own ESPN websites .... ...i guess they figured no reason to make it ESPNMiami , no one gives a dam enough about the Marlins or the Dolphins.
Might as well just make it a Miami Heat Index.

If you think only Miami cares about the Heat .... then where you been the past month? everyone has an opinion on the Heat...people that never watched or followed the NBA , will be watching. They are the biggest team in sports in the US now.

Cool. Looking forward to it. Thanks ESPN! If only all media outlets catered to my interests and only my interests. There'd be a lot of more coverage of video games and porn.

Now they are just doing this crap BECAUSE people hate it. There's a 35yr old going on 12 in charge somewhere over there making faces and saying you can't tell me what to do and thinking the more over the top he goes the cooler he is.

That's what I thought once I finished the reading...

If they fail (and by fail I mean if they don't win the nba title) then those guys are screwed.

That doesn't mean people (non Heat fans) are going to be checking a website daily to read fluff pieces about how well everyone's getting along or what's happening in training today. Though that said there's plenty of Heat bandwagoners around hey, CB4MiamiHeat.

I am not surprised. I have tried my best to avoid ESPN during their NBA content at all costs. I will watch their NCAA content, but I would rather get my NBA news from TNT or locale outlets.

I hope ESPN are using condoms. The Miami Heat disease is spreading pretty quickly.

ESPN is just capitalizing on what they feel will generate revenue. It's not just Heat fans that will tune in. It's the fans of other teams that want to see them fail that will tune in. In the end, if it makes money, they'll roll with it. Be a part of the problem. ESPN doesn't care.

Funny you should mention that, because our local outlet now completely blows because Brian Windhorst left the Plain Dealer to go cover the Heat. Can't blame him for doing it, but you also can't blame Cavs fans for calling him LeBron's lapdog.

ESPNNewYork.com
ESPNLosAngeles.com
ESPNChicago.com
ESPNBoston.com
ESPNDallas.com

Why couldn't they just create an ESPNMiami.com and include this there, along with coverage of the Dolphins, Canes, and Marlins?

That's the problem, the Boston, Chicago, Dallas...ect..are covering the city. They are covering NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, NCAA. The "Heat Index" is a link just for the Heat, no Dolphins, No Marlins, just Heat.

For ESPN to have their own beat writers for one team is crazy. Do they have anyone that covers the Yankees exclusively? How about the Saints or the Lakers? No, they do not. But they not only have one covering the Heat, they have four. Four national writers exclusively for one team, really? At least CNNSI and Yahoo stay somewhat neutral on all teams.
