The media definitely magnifies and blows his attitude problems out of proportion. Maybe the problem is that you don't watch enough games to make an informed decision. Where would the Kings be with glass man Udoh? Greg Monroe? Screw that, give me problem child DMC all day, every day.

its not the all-star break yet and cousins has already been tossed from practice, yanked for the starting lineup, and now taken out of the active roster. not sure how the media has blown his attitude issues out of proportion. seems like the blame would be with the player and the team, not the media.

Yet all of those events were necessary. He was tossed from practice and learned a valuable lesson that he must listen to the coaching staff during practice. Has he improved on that? Yes.

He was benched because he made a ridiculous gesture that came back to hurt him. Has he made any gestures like that since? No.

He was a walking fouling machine and would take himself out of the game. Has he learned to be less foul prone and keep himself in the game? Yes. As referenced to his last streak of games which has seen him foul less and his production gone up.

Now he has been suspended one game for starting an altercation with other players because of the way a critical play panned out. Will he learn from it?

My point is that everyone with two eyes can see he has problems, the franchise has problems and fans of other teams are insinuating that he's a cancer? That's he not worth building around? Give me a break. The media places these stones down and skips from one to another. No one cares that DMC has changed since he started the summer league, but one thing is certain: He wants to be better. Good or bad, he has that motor running and whether or not others see it that way (potential vs atittude) it won't matter.

Do I really need to stress that DMC is a rookie and is simply going to make mistakes? I'll start worrying when he loses his motivation and chokes Westphal. Plus, DMCs progression is probably....sadly enough...the best thing going for the Kings. I'd rather he gets through each of these tests in his first year than...I don't even want to think about the possibilities.

Overreaction in my opinion. Had all these small incidents been ANYONE else, we wouldn't even hear about this crap. The team treats Cousins way differently than everyone else and pisses me off. Apparently Garcia had his back, and he agrees with me as well. This happens with plenty of teams but the Kings continue to make everything public for some odd reason.

The kings front office used to never let things leak out like this. People are acting like Cousins has turned into freaking Ron Artest or something. Didn't Donte greene throw punches as well? I mean.... wow.

Great post and you are 100% correct obviously. Cousins has a TON of growing up to do. The people defending him probably see their own imaturity in his actions. Sad how society is these days.

It's not even about Evans - Westphal doesn't have a plan or control of the team. He's like a parent who says to the oldest kid Evans: "I'll let you keep them in line because you're bigger than everyone else, regardless of what you do." Cousins may not be handling himself they way you might like, but he's basically just responding to a team going nowhere with no direction. At some point Sacramento fans have to ask themselves whether the team has got enough talent (if not, fire the GM) or if it isn't executing a plan (fire the coach or trade the star). It's not like they were winning before DC started getting some burn.
