A thread about Lebron's legacy will be up this time next year as well. Let's not write a book backwards, guys.

What legacy? Honestly, what legacy does Lebron have? He doesn't have a legacy yet. Did Karl Malone (I actually love Malone) ruin his legacy when he didn't win the title after joining up with Shaq and Kobe? Nope. Tell me about the legacy of Sir Charles? Only champions truely have a legacy. Lebron isn't a champion. Maybe someday, but not yet. So far Lebron is a brand and a celebrity. People act like he is Jordan or something. Jordan was cold blooded winner and a champion many times over. Jordan became a brand by winning. Lebron seems to feel pressure to win to maintain his brand. This series hurt that brand. It didn't however hurt his legacy because he doesn't have a legacy yet.

There's still not much doubt in my mind he's going to win a championship at some point. Probably more than one. But he's definitely incurred some pretty substantial blemishes over the past two seasons. It's one thing to lose, but to lose so passively...not very impressive.

The only thing that could make me a LeBron fan is if he realized how stupid he was for going to South Beach and went back to Cleveland to reset things.

The 1st overall pick, Miamis 1st and the other 2 draft picks should do it. :)

To be fair, if you took out the MJ destroyer hype, there have been performances such as these. Oscar and Shaq were always considered to be passive/weird/not into it before they got their first ring.

The problem stems from Lebron not only having Wade but simply playing out of character. (Guy becomes a jump shooter at the most critical time in the playoffs) plus 8 pts. is too low although that's more of an effect of a passive guy having a teammate like Wade.

By the same time Shaq and Penny were in the Finals, Shaq was supposed to be God but even though he was accused of under-performing as the man, it didn't look like he had lost his athleticism like Lebron so the blemish difference is that Lebron flat out did something that attracted and made him nearly a one of a kind character in history (The Decision) and he failed at the climax of that history when all eyes were on him. (If he did this in anything but the Finals the mark on his legacy wouldn't be so evident.)

Cleveland. This is their 2nd party since they beat Miami in the regular season.

No. Darkseid is cool. He's commanding, he's menacing, and he's charismatic. He's also burned Superman a couple times.

Can LeBron measure up to that?

Dallas should have their ring ceremony in Cleveland so we can celebrate accordingly.

The absolute worst thing LeBron ever did (beside The Decision). Is guaranteeing 7 championships. If dude just said "We hope to win multiple championships" It would have been. But like LeBron, he rambles on till he says something stupid.

It certainly hasn't helped anything. To me, with the lineup Miami has and the hype that followed, It was a must win situation. Lebron knew this. Or at least he should have known. Wade, I think knew it. And what baffles me is seeing how much of a shell Lebron has become of his old self. It makes me think his mindset as a player isn't in the right place.

However, I'd be surprised if he doesn't win at least one championship over his career. But this guy's reputation has gone done the toilet and he will never be able to erase what happened tonight.

On a side note, I don't think it would be a bad idea for Lebron to take a vow of silence for a year. Anything that comes out of his mouth is a hotbed for controversy.

What did you think the Lebron hype was all about initially?

Before this Finals, Lebron is supposed to be commanding (alpha male/making Wade his sidekick), menacing (shut down Rose) and charismatic (omg he promises not 1, not 2, not 3...)

He also was the favorite against Dwight's Orlando before finally losing to an upset.

Wouldn't help his image. He's better off looking at how Shaq eventually turned his douchiness into something that's cute or passable by constantly talking.

Those stats say so much. He's no Jordan. It's too late to be like Jordan. Jordan's Bulls went to parades in their honor after the season ended. Lebron's Heat have parades in their honor too, but they are prior to the seasons start!
