Speaking objectively, Orlando bends over hard over the Nets offer.

And the expiring contracts of Kevin Martin, Steve Blake and a couple of picks is better? That makes no sense at all. If the max contratc of Lopez scares the Magic FO, they could always trade him later for even more picks since his value will only rise from here on out.

Probably Artest and Duhon thrower around somewhere

so the lakers get the best player in the deal, dump a bad contract, and dont give up a first round pick?

why not send some of those houston first rounders to LA while were at it

For the deal to have any legs at all somebody has to take Hedo contract and it will most likely be the Lakers.

Well Lakers can't move firsts to 17 I believe, so they could include them. They can throw in cash, seconds, Goudelock, the McRoberts expiring which is actually cheap for a guy who started in indy.

What ever happened to something like Rockets give up Jeremy Lamb, Kyle Lowry, Royce White, and Terrence Jones and get Bynum back. Lakers give up Bynum and a first rounder and MWP and get J-Rich and Howard.

Lakers could offer their 2017 1st round pick. Unprotected. At that time, Kobe/Nash/Gasol will all be retired. That could conceivably end up being a pretty high pick. That may be more attractive to ORL than Nets picks from the next few years when the Nets core would all be relatively young and NJ would be drafting in the 20s. Even if the Magic didn't want to wait until 2017 to get the return, an unprotected pick could be a useful chip in another Magic trade down the road.

Isn't HOU hot on Howard and rolling the dice on him staying, why wouldn't they just do the deal straight up for Dwight?

Sounds like Hennigan could be aiming to put Dwight in a place where he's happy to make the agents OK or something

If this deal goes down, it should be stickied for all time to laugh at this ridiculous trade.

Nets trade is better.

No it's not.

Somehow the Magic need to get the Raptors pick Houston just got. As a Magic fan, I'm ok with getting garbage for Howard in a trade, AS LONG AS ITS NOT THE NETS!

Howard is up for a new Adidas contract and they'll pay him a lot more money if he's in NY, LA, or CHI compared to Houston.

Well, the Rockets have something the Magic want, while the Magic have something the Rockets want. Can someone explain to me why the Lakers are in the deal? If the Magic are interested in the Rockets-package, the Rockets will take Howard and will worry about him probably leaving when the time comes...

WHAT YOUNG TALENT?

In the Nets trade they dump J-Rich too. You're really saying Raptors pick > Lopez + 4 future 1sts...

Supposely Bynum said he would resign in Hou. So its either risk an expensive rental of the best center or get the second best center long term. Worrying about it later is not really a realistic option. It is not like Howard has multiple years left on his deal.

Lakers are in the deal because the Rockets would be giving up too much for a Howard who probably wouldn't re-sign. Lakers provide Bynum, who would most likely re-sign in Houston. Howard goes to LA where he would likely re-sign.

Because rumours have it Bynum will resign in Houston and Howard will not. The Lakers are the ones gambling here.

I didn't look at his specific trade that closely but it's an arguable point. Lopez at the max contract it would take to make the Nets deal work is a bad move for the Magic. He has foot issues and is soft and won't rebound. He's a $10M a year player not a $14M a year player. Those future 1sts are likely to be late picks while Toronto's pick can be much higher. Besides, the Rockets can send out young players that have been 1st round picks this year and the past couple of years. You have to factor them into the equation.

This isn't a trade that was actually reported unlike the one from the Nets.
Wait until actual trade scenarios come out before all this
