They have been straight flipping out since their GM took Gordon over Exum. Their behavior lately has just been a defense mechanism I think.

Magic fans criticize sixers fans really often for being defensive about our players, and they have a point. But they are just as bad, if not worse, themselves. If Elfrid does't turn out to be as great as they all seem to think, this thread is going to be a lot of fun to read back in a few months.

Elfrid is going to have to turn out perfectly if he wants to be a top level point guard, that position is so deep. Most of what I'm seeing and hearing just indicates that he's similar to MCW.

They have a Philly bashing thread on their board. Ever since we got Embiid, the Magic have been well off my radar. I've actually tried to follow their team and watch a couple of games this season, but they are always taking shots at the 76ers and that makes it hard to do. Its almost as if they want our attention. Not all Magic fans but some of the more established ones on Real GM are some of the biggest homers

How if every conversation has an agenda behind it? "oh you're a sixers fan?" "mcw sucks!"

"oh you must be mad at not getting dwight"

Its annoying.

Yes, and that knife cuts both ways... The fact that you guys are talking about deriving pleasure from reading this thread again should Payton not meet expectations speaks volumes.

Anyway - back on topic...

I knew Mirotic would be good, but I am really surprised by his block and steal numbers in the preseason - really exceeding expectations there.

Not really.

Exum hasn't really been brought up since the Magic took E. Payton. I'm still far from being sold on Gordon, but we'll see.

I said no such thing. We have our franchise player, idc if Payton bust or becomes the next Jason Kidd.

Best: Embiid/Wiggins
Sleeper: Smart
Bust: Payton..based of expectations. Before Magic fans behead me, I think he will be a fine player, just not the star you think he will be.

I have nothing against the sixers, or their fans. I am a proponent of small market teams and underdogs alike. But prok really does crap on us every chance he gets.

Anyhow, to contribute
Best: Payton, Wiggins, Randle
Sleeper: Miami's new big, shot crazy well against us.
Bust: Exum(not alpha enough) Vonleh.

Best Wiggins: Reminds me of a young TMAC
Bust Embiid: If healthy this will change, but big men with foot injuries are never a good thing
Bust2 Gordon: Still VERY raw but if he never develops I can see him being another Tyrus Thomas
Sleeper Payton: Needs to develop a midrange game, but his playmaking and defense is already there.

I'm done. you either just hate the Magic (which it has looked like in the past) or you dont actually know who Payton is. His court vision is very good, his passing has been great. The fact that successful coaches like him and think he will do very well shows how off you are. done arguing this with facts.

you arent arguing facts. you are debating my opinion. a thread about who will and wont pan out, is speculative in nature. not sure why you are getting all butt hurt over this, especially when im one of the VERY few people to come to the defense of gordon (yet somehow im this huge "hater" )

these guys were all picked in the lottery or first round... obviously someone thinks every single one of them is good or has potential, or they wouldnt have been drafted. this entire thread is about which picks are going to be justified and which wont.

if you want to argue facts, then find a fact based argument. coming in here and calling mine, or anyone elses opinion wrong is out of place. if you disagree, fine everyone will in these kinds of threads.

but please pump the breaks on "im not arguing facts" when the facts here have been "assists he could have had in a preseason game if his teammates finshed on his passes"

my stated reasons for him not panning out where he wasnt a great passer, forced the issue, and wasnt a good enough outside shooter. going on his college career, he had a 5 to 3.5 assist to turnover ratio and shot 27% from the college 3 point stripe. so, its not like what im saying is just being pulled out of thin air.

if you want to base opinions off of 2 preseason games, thats your prerogative,... but dont get on your soap box and pretend like you are stating some universal fact that the guy is/has/will be great at certain things. you posted 0 facts other then you watched the preseason games

Sleeper: mirotic or wiggins. Mirotic will surprise a lot of people. He would have gone top 8 in this draft imo. Him andMcDrainit will take the league by surprise. Can't wait for the drain duo. A lot of people are saying wiggins is all athleticism and no skill. I think he will find his game and become a star. He is already an elite man defender.
Bust: I think Gordon will be a typical tweener bust

How in all hell is Wiggins a sleeper?

Don't understand why Napier is being labeled as a bust. Dude have like 18 points and 7 assists no turnover in about 15 minutes against Cleveland. He does have some negatives that can easily be fixed, but right now I see potential more than anything, nowhere near a bust.
