I have also said this kind of behaviour towards individuals, public or private, by what amounts to gangs on internet forums and other social media is a pervasive modern phenomenon which I find distasteful and has been actually damaging to many people, not that KD shouldn’t just ignore it and move on as LeBron did. And LMAO as you put it that the guy being targeted by the gangs is the coward in the exchange. I myself consider, allowing the ridiculous propositions that an uncontracted player’s choice of team involves cowardice or bravery or that ball games determine same a priori, that it would take more “courage” for him to stay with GSW and go against what the mob demands of him now.

All of this also rests on imputed motives for KD by his critics anyway, btw.

I didn't say it was defamation either. I said, "Public figures are treated differently under US defamation laws for a reason."

KD, by definition (as an international sports hero), has an elevated social position, wide access to a variety of media/communication channels, significant influence within this society...and benefits enormously from his public position. Finally, KD voluntarily assumed this role of special prominence--i.e., he willingly chose to become a public figure (sports hero). With such a public position--and the enormous financial benefits that come with it--KD has also voluntarily accepted various risks...including the possibility (inevitability?) that people may sometimes call him stuff like "cupcake." Assuming these comments are neither violations of his civil rights nor financially damaging lies (uttered with actual malice), KD has 30 million great reasons (this season alone) to ignore them. That he can't is...sad.

P.S. Your assertion that KD has been "targeted by the gangs"--particularly made on this thread--has to be the funniest thing I've read here in some time. Thanks for the laugh! :D

If I ever needed proof KD bashing has become a mob pastime and an end in itself, this thread in which you and others vent their outrage at KD supposedly disrespecting an individual GSW fan and GSW in general is proof.....

The fan--aka the "KD-bashing mob member"--wrote this (quoted in its entirety):

Doubt us without KD!!! Doubt Curry, Klay and Dray!! And keep thinking Milwaukee is better!!! Y’all doubters and haters will see!!!

In what alternative universe is this comment "divisive" and/or an insult directed at Kevin Durant? As KD himself would say, "What the **** wrong with you?"
RIP magnumt--you're literally why I'm still here on these boards.
RIP The Hater--keep up the good fight in the great beyond.

It's surreal that people accuse KD of being oversensitive by filling countless threads with novelettes discussing, analyzing and criticizing 140 letters from a guy they don't even like playing for a team they don't follow.

Take your own advice and let it go.
“I pretty much played the last three games with a broken hand,” James said as he sat there with a softcast on the right hand.

In what alternative universe is this comment "divisive" and/or an insult directed at Kevin Durant? As KD himself would say, "What the **** wrong with you?"

A universe in which any momentary reaction of his is subject to minute exegesis by social media mobs hostile to him.

You seem to have a problem differentiating between the general and the particular, or choose not to do so as it suits you. My last post was in reply to a post in which you implied this thread was not an example of there being a mob waiting to bash Durant at every opportunity. If your point purely hangs on the definition of the word “divisive” and whether the application of that word by KD was correct this is a different question. However as a member of the GSW team he is probably in a better position than anyone on this thread to decide whether an exchange on social media is divisive in terms of the GSW team given he is the player many would like to see divided from GSW, and that his team-mates are going out of their way to include him in post game media grabs after winning the games in which they have supposedly been better without him, the latter the context of the social media exchange in which Durant was involved, much as your posts have been in the context of this thread, in which posters not fans of either him or GSW are taking him to task for a comment at which actual GSW fans on this thread did not take umbrage.

You still going on about this? What is this fixation with Kevin Durant that you feel the need to defend (and defend and defend) his "honor" day (after day after day) over and over again in thread (after thread after thread)? Here's a newsflash for you:

Durant was not being bullied by this fan.

Sorry, but it just didn't happen--there is no logical leap that would turn that fan's enthusiastic plug for his team into bullying.

More to the point, I would be willing to wager large amounts of money that every single person who posts to this forum has to deal with the occasional sarcastic and/or derogatory comment. I.e., it's not just "poor KD" who has to "suffer," but everyone--part of the price of living, working and studying with other humans. That said, I'm guessing most of us manage to survive these (and worse) periodic encounters without getting too huffed up about it. I sure do.

Finally, this is a basketball discussion board, and KD--as both a basketball player and a public figure--is fair game. By "public figure," again, I mean that KD has an elevated social position, wide access to a variety of media/communication channels, significant influence within this society...and benefits enormously from his public position. Finally, KD voluntarily assumed this role of special prominence--i.e., he willingly chose to become a public figure (sports hero). That KD can't ignore comments--particularly when said comments are not even directed at him--is both sad and funny...and your continuing attempts at defending him are not going to change this.

Good luck to you--I'm done with this thread.

No, I replied to you which would rather indicate you were the one still going on about it. If you don’t respond to this post as is not unreasonable then there is a fair chance I won’t reply to you.

Idiots always ends a post with "what's wrong with you" as if they already won the argument.
