And we had some insane line-ups, like Bircevic on SF, Micic and Jovic playing together etc etc. Weird game, so many missed FTs, turnovers, Jokic played completely indifferent for the most part of the game... Gobert is really bad offensively. France missed De Colo, though.

I know all that, just, we are little short on his position.
I’ve always been curious why Serbia has been the only former Yugoslav country to never naturalize an American. So many quality imports have come through Belgrade over the years, all of their neighbors have done it. Why not Serbia?
I personally never saw the point of that. What's the point of national teams if everybody starts "naturalizing" players from other nations?

Why would we when we got great players in our own nation, and doing great? People in nation are really against that, and I am too. Really don't see the point of national competitions, if player for other nation plays for your national team? You do that stuff in club sport and I'm fine with that, but leave national sport alone.
We did had 1 or 2 USA players in women basketball team tho.
Well you had just mentioned the need for wings, think there are a few guys who could help with that. I don’t think Anthony Randolph or JR Holden kept Slovenia and Russia from enjoying their Eurobasket gold’s any less.
For me, there will always be an asterisk next to that Slovenian gold, because of Randolph.
Are you Slovenian? The people of Ljubljana sure didn’t celebrate like their achievement was tainted or diminished in any way.

Don't worry, I wont. Would love to see USA - Serbia finals actually. Pretty sad that Teodosic, Kalinic, Milosavljevic will not play, cause I think that strongest Serbian team got nice chance vs this USA team. Even without them I think we got a chance. Of course there are Greece, France, Spain, Australia, Luthhuania... but Serbia is biggest threat to USA def.
Here are the odds:
Kalinic not gonna playing is Serbia’s own fault. Even in 2019 they’re insecure about an open minded player who questions the same tired old nationalistic rhetoric. Complete farce and failure he’s not on the team.
Unfortunately they have a long way to go. Too many nationalists there. Not the first time someone doesn't play of stupid reasons like this. I remember the Adem Ljajic a few years was banned because he didn't sing the national anthem

Interesting analysis of 2002 FIBA World Cup in Indianapolis. Addresses Team USA roster construction similar to this year's

Regarding Kalinic - you guys have no idea how important is the thing he's been bashing and talking about like it's nothing. It's his and only his fault that he's out of the roster.

Ljajic was not banned for not singing the national anthem - Ljajic was kicked off the team because he violated the terms of an agreement that he signed. The media tried to spin it into something it wasn't but even Ljajic admitted it - mainly that he didn't read the contract in detail but just signed it.

Of course they did. Macedonians have celebrated when McCalleb carried them to the semi final that one year too, but it doesn't change the fact that he didn't have anything to do with their country prior to that, and he was their best player by far. Players like McCalleb and Randolph were signed by those national teams like clubs sign their players. It doesn't make sense if it's meant to be the national team.

Oh, I know that. Much better than it used to be, just that some prefer to live in the past. I am hoping you guys will join EU soon.

I actually know how "important" that thing is. It is not a good reason to ban someone in the 21st century.

Re: FIBA WORLD CUP 2019
Since nobody is talking about us, I gotta get my Germans some love. I really like our chances against most countrys in this tournament. Of course it will be very hard to beat France in the Groupstage but I think it's not impossible, and after that, we'll see.
We got probably the strongest rotation we've ever had (of course Dirk was something else) and just beat Australia by 10 points.
Our starting Lineup with Schroeder, Akpinar, Zipser, Kleber and Theis should be pretty good and our Bench also got some solid Euroleagueguys like Voigtmann, Barthel and Lo and the other guys played Eurocup. Not all the sexy names but our chemistry is good and everybody knows their role, so i hope we can finish in the Top8. I know Schroeder is a punchline here, but he played really well in the last Fiba tournament, were most guards couldn't stop him so let's see what he can do this time with Theis as his Rollman.
An upset against France in the opener would be amazing.. let's go guys!

I dont get Schroeder dislike, i think hes pretty good. Having guys like Voigmann and Lo on the bench speaks of how deep this team is, I honestly hasnt paid attention to Germany and didnt even realize they have a luxury of having these type of players not even starting. honestly I dont like Voigtmann all that much, he reminds me guys like Motiejunas, just a big who really overrates his shooting ability, but he is productive enough, I guess.

The games I saw, Voigtmann wasn't that good but he scored 10 today against Australia and signed with CSKA in the offseason so what do I know. I really like Barthel though. He can shoot but also has a really good postgame. Maybe the most well rounded guy on Offense in our Frontcourt who could really do some damage against other benchplayers.

CSKA was a desperate after disastrous off season moves, but thats different discussion entirely.

That's different subject and let's stick with basketball topic. And I'm against joinging the EU also. You can see on latest example of Croatia. After joinging the EU over 1 mil people left croatia and went across border to west europe because no visa limits, same would happen to Serbia.
