So far early in the season he has surpassed all expectations and has added new elements into his repertoire. Being a first option has been easier for him than expected getting points with ease. He's become such an amazing facilitator causing so much havoc that he find our guys for easy open looks like Vanvleet. At this rate he's already becoming a better first option for us than Kawhi was last year. Kawhi was kinda a ball stopper and wasn't that good of a playmaker. The brand of basketball we're playing is just beautiful. Another monster night, leading the league now in 30+pt games.

As long as you enjoy the bump in 6 weeks, when he's stablized a bit and still not a top 5 player.

I mean even right now is he a top 5 player? Brandon Ingram is putting up better numbers.

Currently Siakam is top 5 in scoring and he's doing it with elite defense. He's scoring better than Ingram with higher TS% but they're both close.

Naturally teams adapt and adjust all the time in an ever evolving game. But right now, what exactly is the defensive game plan against a 6'9 PF who can post-up, has liquid moves in the paint, can drive, can dribble, can knock the mid-range J, and bury the 3 at +40% on high-volume?

Honest question.

derozan is attempting less than half a three pointer per game. Looks like he and pop completely gave up on that part of his game.

that's no surprise.. pop hates the 3 point shot.. but his playmaking is up, no? he was a more willing passer as the year before he got traded. havent been following his spurs career.

Actually he is averaging less than half his assist per game than last year. But it's still early in the season.

Playing lottery teams can inflate your numbers because of their more porous defenses, but playing lottery teams also can hurt your numbers --- i.e. you're playing fewer minutes and taking fewer shots than you normally would because you're beating them by a large margin and are resting for the 4th, and other teammates are also going off.

So I don't necessarily buy that Pascal's numbers are going to go down as the competition goes up in quality. His shooting efficiency might go down as the defensive quality improves --- but his points, rebounds, and assists may all go up with playing higher minutes and playing more assertively in more competitive, meaningful games.

Pascal's putting up 28/9/4 playing 34 minutes per game. Think about his numbers for those meaningful games where he could be playing 40-42 minutes. Those could be 35/12/5 type games.

As you can see, we have some utterly clueless people in our fan base. Please forgive us, we're not all as daft as this.

Embiid's gonna miss 40 games because of hurt feelings this season so tough to call him a top 5 player. Lebron is like Samson: when his hair comes out, his powers are gone. Curry is already going to miss significant time and the Warriors tank is going to demand he misses 5 games every time he has sprained eyebrows (he gets that a lot). Seems like Siakam is a lock to me.

When you put it that way, he's really only a couple of badly sprained ankles from AD and Giannis, and a few ugly shooting slumps from Harden away from the top spot. It's almost an inevitability really.

He's had about as great a start to the season as anyone could have hoped for...
And he still isn't a top-5 player, lol

LOL

let the hate flow through you son

Can you please let me know how I'm hating in the slightest?

By being reasonable? By not being a Toronto fan?

I think he's amazing. I drafted him in fantasy. He's still not currently a top 5 player and they've bumped these threads acting like they've been vindicated.

Spicy Mamba is on my fantasy team, I would be hyped if he is a top 5 player.

He has an opportunity to be the best player on the Raptors this year.

Going to be real what do you see his numbers at the end of the season if you think he's going to cool off?

Not top 5 , top 10 possibly. Still need to see more of him. I’m sure there are more than 5 better players than him at this point.
