As it pertains to Kobe, he's not an angel, but he's much less of a scumbag than Lebron for all the reasons I mentioned and previous posters mentioned. I think it's very unlikely Kobe raped the girl.
Mostly, for Kobe, I love the way he competed and his game was so beautiful, artistic.
Tbh, I lost a lot of respect when Kobe did a commercial for the Orwellian Hate Group, Southern Poverty Law Center.
Lebron is a punk. He's Dunning Kruger personified. Kobe was at least intelligent off the basketball court.

LeBron didn’t get to play with peak Shaq, and yet he still has twice as many FMVPs as Kobe. There’s zero argument for Kobe being the better player. None. That argument ended years ago.
Kobe playing with Shaq hurt his FMVP chances.
Also Kobe didn’t form superteams in his prime, his prime years was wasted by the lakers FO, but those years made him Kobe and made laker fans fall in love with him. That was where the mamba mentality was born, out scoring a team all by himself because he refuses to give up.
Unlike Lebron who gives up the moment he is not able to front-run
Yes, this is what ring chasers and stat chasers do not understand.
Winning a ring is the ultimate prize in sports. But it is how you win the ring...when they say win by any means necessary, it is not by stacking the deck or going up against sub-par competition.
When Dr. J finally won a ring in 1983, he had been to three other finals and had come so close. It wasn't just the finals losses that hurt, it was the battles vs the Celtics that are so memorable. In fact, imo, the Sixers-Celtics are more of a rivalry than the Lakers-Celtics. The Sixers and Celtics battles were blood wars and it was a battle of attrition. Homecourt mattered, playing hurt mattered. When Dr. J retired the entire NBA honored him in every stadium. He was the first to get honored by all the home teams.
Other teams respected Dr. J because he gave everything and didn't quit when he didn't have stacked teams. He still beat the Celtics without having a stacked team in the playoffs. It took Magic Johnson to have the game of his life to beat Doc in the finals. Think about that...it took Magic Johnson and Kareem to beat Julius in the playoffs. Dr. J was class personified.
When the Detroit Pistons finally broke through and won their first NBA title, it was after failure after failure in the playoffs. Twice in three years, the Pistons were knocked out of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics. Is there any greater failure in the playoffs than Isiah throwing the inbounds ball and having it stolen by Bird and passed to Henderson. How terrible must Isiah have felt after that game. They were tied 2-2 and losing G5 by one point...I can't imagine that feeling. I wouldn't want that feeling. But I am sure every Pistons fan hurt just as much as Isiah over that summer. That bonds fans to players. Not the wins...the losses...the failures...the could have beens. The Pistons conceivably could have won three straight titles. But those moments made those Bad Boy Pistons a special group.
The same thing happened with the Chicago Bulls; they lose to the Pistons in the playoffs three years in a row. The Pistons create the Jordan rules, the migraine game with Pippen. The Pistons walking off the court and only Joe Dumars shake the Bulls hands after they finally beat Detroit in the playoffs. But those years of losing helped create Jordan...without the Jordan rules...does Michael really build himself up to threepeat. Who knows. But those years of losing helped mold how Jordan became what he became.
Kobe comes along and he mimics Jordan and he constantly hears how he is not as good as Jordan and he is a replaceable piece in the Lakers threepeat. Even before that the Lakers twice lose to the Jazz in the playoffs, getting swept...Kobe shoots three air balls and he hears. Then Shaq leaves and everyone says Kobe would have never won anything without Shaq and the Lakers have to do a rebuild. Kwame Brown...Smush Parker...VladRad...those were some lean years that Kobe had to hold those Lakers squads together and make them competitive. Lakers fans appreciate all the sweat, effort, and determination it took to keep passing the ball to Kwame Brown.
So when Kobe takes these Lakers to three straight finals, winning back to back, beating the Celtics. Yes, you are damn right Lakers fans are going to appreciate that.
Then you want Lakers fans that have been around to appreciate a guy who ditches franchises, ships off all the young players, misses playoffs, makes all these demands and now has the team on the brink of irrelevancy because of his actions.
These Lebron stans have a huge blind spot in their field of vision. They do not understand the fan dynamic at all......
wtf are you talking about lmao? Those Sixers teams that beat the Celtics in the early 80s were a super team. They had Hall of Famers Bobby Jones, Maurice Cheeks and Dr. J. plus Toney and Dawkins in 1982 then they replaced Dawkins with MVP Moses Malone in 1983. It's as stacked and well constructed a roster as you'll find. The only reason they don't have more titles is because they went against two of the best teams in history during those years (Celtics and Lakers) You literally couldn't be more wrong

The romantic ideal of a dynasty where a fanbase gets a 10+-year relationship with a core is alluring, but it's rare and ultimately nonessential to the goal, which is the title.
i mean, we are in this thread, talking about this very phenomenon, clearly, the point isn't just winning a title. it comes down to how you win it and who won it. and to fans, fandom is a lot more complex than just winning it all, it's about falling in love and growing together, not just about the climax.
even if as a fan, you've done this too many times, with too many players who have come and gone and you're just about the team... what did the lakers do to make lebron and then AD come to LA? well.. they are in LA and they aren't the clippers, that's about it. where's the achievement, the struggle, the putting together the team? it seems that honor goes to lebron and his klutch connections.
granted, winning does cure some of this, and you can grow together by winning a lot of titles. but that's also it, isn't it? except for a brief florida stint, there hasn't been a lot of winning going on

Mo Cheeks vs Dennis Johnson vs Magic Johnson...which PG would you choose
Darryl Dawkins vs Robert Parish vs Kareem Abdul Jabbar...which Center would you choose
Bobby Jones vs Kevin McHale vs Michael Cooper...which 6th man would you choose
Lakers had Norm Nixon, Jamaal Wilkes, Spencer Haywood, James Worthy, and Bob McAdoo
Celtics had Tiny Archibald, Cedric Maxwell, Danny Ainge, Bill Walton
Compared to the Celtics and Lakers, no the Sixers were not stacked. If they would have had Moses in 1980 going forward, it would have been a very different narrative for the 80's. It would be Dr. J in the top 10 and Magic and Bird would be on the outside looking in. The Sixers in 1983 had one of the most dominant RS and one of the best playoff runs ever. This is with Doc on the back end of his career. He was definitely outgunned going up against the Celtics and Lakers.....

Before Bron went to LA, I can't think of a time when I've seen such a large proportion of a team's "fanbase" actively rooted against and/or even down-played their own squad's success before.
And we know why...it's been a heated debate for YEARS. Bron vs. Kobe.
They are Kobe stans. Simple as that.
So Laker fans are about winning championships...that's with a "s". Missing the playoffs...losing in the first round...is unacceptable.
Lebron-stans think winning one title gives Lebron a pass to lead a crappy team the rest of the time......

"Ohh but he brought yall a championship. You should be happy" Nah I'm good. They barely beat a Miami Heat team that wasn't even 100%. I'm supposed to be impressed by that? I'll pass. I'd like to know why people wanna put all the attention on Kobes fans every time this topic comes up. Why can't other Laker greats like Shaq, Magic Johnson, Kareem or/and Wilt fans also not be happy that Lebron came to the team? or even simply the fans of the team in general. We don't have to like this guy if we choose not to. If you want to be his fan you do you because threads like this will never change anything.
Well said, This is how I feel. But when Kobe stood up and said “Laker fans have to fall in line and root for Lebron” I did that out of respect. I’ll never criticize Lebron while he wears the purple & gold.
But I disagree with people saying we’re jealous of Lebron because of what he accomplished over Kobe. Very easy to look good and win when you’re jumping from team to team and tampering to stack up talent
LAL1947 wrote:thebigbird wrote:Because he’s so much better than Kobe and the Kobe fanboys can’t accept that.
I think Kobe was the better individual player (more talent and skills) but Lebron has stat-padded and super-teamed his way into having a greater career (in terms of longevity, stat totals and winning with 3 different teams), which is the main reason why he deserves to be over Kobe in the all-time lists.
Lebron at 37 is better than Kobe ever was. There are levels to this.

a title is a title but its way different if you win as wolve or king compared to lakers. if your a laker, your expected to be a dynasty team. anything below is a failure. lebron is already is in 4th yr and won only 1 lakers would have easily won without him.
Name 9 Lakers better than LeBron James.
Go on, I’ll wait.

That doesn't explain some Heat fans hating him too, like me.
The reason is simple.
Lebron is the most unlikeable superstar in sports history. He's incredibly fake, manufactured, and selfish. Lebron only cares about Lebron and will use anyone to try and prop himself up.
Even Kobe, with his huge ego, never came out and said "That right there makes me the greatest ever" like Lebron did about the 2016 finals.
Lebron is a never ending factory of cringe.
"Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7...."
He is the BIGGEST front runner I've ever seen in sports. And it's not just about basketball.
Lebron will front run politics if it means it will help his brand. Remember the China thing? Lebron quick to run his mouth on EASY political stances in america, but when it hurts his bottom line $$$$, he defends China.
I can go on and on. His passive aggressive twitter comments, his fake personality, his stat padding, everything.
Man, a lot of people who hated him in Miami were Wade Fans. I'm friends with a Miami fan and couldn't get over the fact it was LeBron's team.
I don't think people understand how great prime Wade was.
I would take prime Wade, circa 2005-2011, before Lebron.
Wade could lead a team to a ring and he proved it, in superhuman fashion in 2006. The series before that, he destroyed the Pistons.
We really did NOT need Lebron. Lebron came down here and stunk up the joint, and Wade had to take a back seat just to cater to "lebron ball"
No possible way Heat would win without LeBron. Wade wasn’t the same after 2011. Was still really good but it was downhill from there. And Bron had to carry hard on a lot of series on Miami with super clutch performances and Bosh was hurt a lot.
In place of Bron, they woulda needed to build perfectly around Wade and then with injuries to Bosh or Wade they immediately woulda been done.

Didn’t know you were that close with Kobe lol. Fact is we don’t really know which players are better people.
I will say though Kobe isn’t exactly a people person and that’s part of his dope persona that he’s cold-blooded. But let’s be real here, LeBron would definitely be easier to get along with and has a pretty spotless record outside of the game especially for the microscope he’s ALWAYS been under.
The only main things against him are like the China situation and the Decision and for being so famous for so long, that’s not much.
Not gonna get into the Kobe rape situation cuz nobody knows what really happened but at the very least he was cheating on his wife and I personally see cheating on a wife or even a girlfriend a despicable thing to do.

The Lakers still had quite a bit of talent when Lebron walked in the door. They had Zubac, Ingram, Ball, Hart, Caruso, Kuzma, KCP but still ended up a lottery team that first season with him. They traded the farm for AD (Ingram, Ball, Hart, #4 Garland). Lakers won one title and now the window is already closed as they are likely a lottery team again. Why would Laker fan hold any great reverance for Lebron's time in a Laker uniform? Alot of fans are like thanks for the one title but it might be time to cut ties and rebuild at this point.

The Lakers missed the playoffs for six straight seasons before Lebron resurrected the franchise. Baylor, West, and Chamberlin didn't win multiple championships and all are hailed as Laker greats. That "championships" qualifier is some BS you guys throw in to justify being angry at Lebron. Lebron joined the franchise at 34, there weren't expectations for more than one championship.
How many times did Jerry West lead the Lakers to the finals? Nine times?
How many times did Lebron? Once? Oh, that's about equal.
How many times did Jerry West and Elgin Baylor miss the playoffs? Oh none...how many times has Lebron...once and there is a good chance it could two times.
Name one team that Lebron has been on that can equal the 1972 Lakers who have the record 33 consecutive games won, won 69 games and the title. Lebron has never been on an all time great team. He always has to try and beat all time great teams because he can't create one.
What player has the highest scoring average in the finals at 46.3PPG and is the only player in NBA history to be voted FMVP for the losing team...Jerry West.

This thread is talking about why Laker fans do not like Lebron.
I also made a post about why fans connect with players. Its not all about the good times and winning. Fans connect through longevity and hard times.
Perhaps you have never heard of Ernie Banks. He was a famous baseball player for the Chicago Cubs. He's known as "Mr. Cub" because he played for the Cubs for IIRC 18 years. The Cubs never won, but the city of Chicago gave him the moniker of "Mr. Cub" because of all he did for the team and the city. He was the first player to have his jersey retired for the franchise. He was a two time MVP and in both seasons that he won the team had a losing record. In fact, the Cubs never even made the playoffs during his career.
So why is he known as "Mr. Cub", why does he have the respect of the fans, why is he a legend in Chicago despite not even making the playoffs.
One word...loyalty. Loyalty to the team and the fans, and fans can see that. They know when a player is giving everything he has and perhaps the team isn't good enough. It is a sh### thing when a great player doesn't get to win a title or even make the playoffs. But I will take an Ernie Banks over a Lebron James any day.
Fan respect is not just about winning.......

Your point on loyalty is fair enough, but has nothing to do with the wall of text you posted earlier, which was in large part about stats and winning (or in West's case, not winning).

Lebron-stans think winning one title gives Lebron a pass to lead a crappy team the rest of the time......
As GM of the Lakers Jerry West delivered six championships...how many franchises has Lebron left in shambles, including currently destroying the 2022 Laker season, Lebron is on his 3rd franchise.

Lebron, Wilt, West, and Baylor have all delivered ONE championship as players to the city of Los Angeles. You are contradicting yourself to justify your vendetta against the man that was primarily responsible for your favorite team winning a championship.
It's especially funny knowing you would have criticized Lebron if he achieved any of the above. 46 PPG in a finals loss would be regarded as shameless statpadding from posters of your ilk

Loyalty and winning are two different things when it comes to fans of teams.
If you are a Boston fan, you may take Larry Bird over anybody, because he is a Celtic.
While a San Antonio fan may take Tim Duncan over anybody because he is a Spur.
That is fan loyalty.
That is different from rating a player in general sense. You can't measure loyalty, you can measure winning.
Yes, I'm not like these fake posters who try to be virtue signaling about who they like or don't like. I don't like Lebron, I will never understand how a so-called Ohio kid gets drafted to an Ohio team, wins back to back 60+ win seasons and then ditches his hometown team. He not only leaves once, he leaves them again.
So before he did anything in LA, I don't have any respect for what Lebron does. He is a bandwagoner, me-first player, that will leave you high and dry at the first sign of adversity. Lebron has no loyalty.
I don't understand these Lebron-stans who love him so much when he don't love them at all. He only cares about himself. But that's the times we live in now. But I am on record, several times saying I did not want Lebron to come to LA.
I had similar situation before with the Oakland Raiders when Jerry Rice left the 49ers and came to play with the Raiders. But I respected Jerry more than I respect Lebron....but I didn't cheer for Jerry Rice the same way I cheered for Tim Brown. That's just me......
I'm so tired of the typical......

As a Miami fan, I have every right to be angry. IN 2010, Miami DID NOT NEED LEBRON.
Wade + Bosh + another max contract would have won 2 championships with Wade leading the way. Wade was an incredible player before his knees died on him.
Lebron came down here, made cringe comment after cringe comment, predicted 8 championships, crapped the bed in 2011, and then we had to have the entire team sit back and take a role player role to let Lebron "shine"..... and then when it didn't suit Lebron anymore, he ditched us.
Ya'll act like Lebron did Miami a favor. It the opposite. Miami rescued Lebron from rotting away in Cleveland with those terrible rosters and contracts in 2010. Where was lebron going to go? The Knicks?
So where was LeBron going to be all those seasons? You assuming LeBron would just stay in Cleveland? Why wouldn't he also join a superior cast, and LeBron is the best and most durable of those three players. Come on, lol.
Do you remember Lebron in 2010?
He had no clue how to win or build a roster. It was Miami who taught him to surround himself with 3pt shooters and to evolve his game past what it was.
His other option was what? the Knicks? They had nobody on the roster. Carmelo didn't get there until 2011. And even then.. 2010 was a different time. Bosh had already committed to being with Wade and Miami.
Lebron was not going to compete anywhere unless he went to form a superteam in Miami.
The amount of mind-numbing stupidity combined with pathetic levels of salt that are packed into every laughable comment is truly impressive.
Wade was stuck in the first round and Bosh couldn't even get to the playoffs in the (L)Eastern conference until they teamed up with LBJ. Wade/Bosh/whoever don't make it past the Bulls in the ECF without LBJ (and that's even if he doesn't go to CHI) that first year and then Wade goes into declined and the Heat are a treadmill team.

LOL @ all the Kobestan/Lebron hating Laker fans pretending that they weren't crying about LBJ on the GB before he even took the court wearing purple and gold. All this "He didn't win enough, destroyed the future that didn't exist before he arrived, blah blah blah" is made up garbage to distract from this.
Even if it was true, imagine how pathetic and entitled you have to be to cry about how one of the GOATs brought you "only one title" on the back-end of his career.
