Is that poster attacking the whole fanbase rather than just the ones who posted in this thread over the summer to dunk on the Knicks?

I feel bad for you guys.

No need. It is of course terribly cringe-worthy every time it happens, but we're used to people failing to be smug in our presence

Unfortunately, we also have to play other teams.

Beef Stew is so overrated. Dude is an undersized center. That wants to shoot 3s yet not a great shooter. Duran is an unknown. Cade and Bey should improve. Ivey is a rookie.

When the Mavs had Brunson he was a rising young player. Now that he’s on the Knicks , he’s an overrated player and not that good according to the GB.

Brunson is what he was in Dallas. A good solid PG. I think he’s smart and good enough to be a starting PG on a championship team as long as he’s about the 3rd-4th best player (think Derek Fisher). Limited athleticism but superior basketball IQ.

A team with JB as the 4th best player would go 82-0. Yes, he is that good!

A lot of people under-rate Randle, but under-rating Brunson is definitely unique :P

Brunson is more than a good solid PG. He has shown that he can take over games like any other all-star caliber player - because he is one.

BTW, are you really comparing Brunson to Derek Fisher?

Starts with a Pistons fan creating a really strange comparison.
Then we get irritated Knicks fans clapping back.
A bunch of Nets posters saying the Knicks suck.
Other Pistons fans saying the Knicks are almost certainly better this year.
Knicks fans still irritated and taking the smack talk even further into the past.

Great thread, folks.

Oh, and the Knicks would need to semi-implode to win fewer games than the Pistons this year. We’ll be lucky to win 35 tops, and it’s very likely Weaver maneuvers us into a tank mid-season (if such maneuvers are even necessary) for one more lotto pick. We’ve got a guy changing position (Stewart), an extremely raw center (Duren), a primary scorer that doesn’t know what a good shot is yet (Ivey), a turnstile that can score (Bey), a bunch of passable-at-best vets that will play, and Cade. Cunningham would have to go completely supernova as a sophomore to make Detroit a playoff team.

35 it’s very optimistic scenario, science fiction almost

Before responding to any post in this thread I suggest looking at when the original post was made. This thread was made over a year ago and what might seem absurd now might have been a reasonable take then.

DET has a few certain needs (veteran leadership - not a star but a Haslem type vocal leader), a glue guy and a time to develop. All their young pieces look decent-to good

Cade - Star Power
Duren - good C
Thompson - lots of potential
Ivey - good offensively, terrible defensively (likely tradebait)
Many others as well

New York is much older (not old but older) - Randle's 29 likely on the back 9, Brunson is 27 in the prime (but his prime is not a championship window now in NYK), DDV - 26 and still trying to prove he belongs, Hart - 28 glue guy likely on the back end now, Fournier is dead weight beyond them Robinson is 25 with injury concerns, Barrett is 23 and looks good most the time but not a Top Star imo, Quickley looks like a great young starter material but im not sure again on a Top star. I've liked the Knicks the last several years but their window is the next 2-4 years and i dont see them beating a lot of the juggernauts out there right now.

True on the Detroit side, but the Knicks success wasn't exactly unpredictable as many of our arguments from back then have proven to be correct...Randle hasn't shoot as badly as he did in 2022 again, Brunson has taken another step with his increased role, having Brunson take the ball out of Randle's hands more has helped Randle's efficiency immensely, Robinson has turned into an a high end defensive anchor, and our young guards have made progress around our two Allstars.

So there is some vindication for knicks fans in reading the people who doubted this team just because of previous knicks teams.
