Any news about Luka Doncic, is he in 100% shape? I saw some news earlier that he could have been injured.

Re: Eurobasket 2022 part deux : Quarterfinals! Magical France escapes another inescapable ending, makes medal stage
First kudos to Italy for their game plan as it worked most of the time (cf help defense under the rim). I was not expecting us to shoot so well in the first half but obviously the game has been well prepared (on both ends).we never really could have post plays, merely a couple big/big relation between Yabusele/Gobert and even Fall struggled in post up, which is a surprise for me.
I was expecting us to be torched by italian wings, its no surprise if datome (i kinda called it..) and Fontecchio shined (i guess we have brought a 'marabout' to take care of opponent's free throws in the last minute..), i was not expecting Melli to have this game. A bit disappointed (in a good way, nice relief) by guards performance, except for Mannion who torched us in the third.
Anyway, glad to see us survive another turnover party. But the level of intensity was great and our defense brilliant at times. Yet many great plays from Italy.
Gobert was brilliant in that game (not a big fan of him, but we dont get though without him today, that was pretty obvious)

FIBA needs to improve the refs department.
They are human and they can't perfect, like the players.

Just that ? did you see the other whistles down the lane ?

There are no euroleague or eurocup referees. The good ones are out of the tournament for political issues between euroleague and FIBA.

I hope Collet will understand what a leader Thomas Heurtel is.
Having Evan Fournier as a captain and a leader just make us weaker

refereeing in fact was not great in this tournament, but I really didnt think this game was an example of that. I get you upset, but I just don't see how refs screwed Italy here, both sides had very unfavorable calls during peak crunch. They gave Fournier 5th. and called offensive foul on Rudy (though that one couldn't ever be not called)

Re: Eurobasket 2022 part deux : Quarterfinals! Magical France escapes another inescapable ending, makes medal stage
I started watching the game with 3 mins left in the 3rd qtr.
Some bad calls goes both ways, players flopping and refs fouling for it.
Rudy has improved his form and touch on his free throws over the years, though it baffles me he cannot even attempt floater it would do wonders from the French offense.
I don’t think France can win the euro basket, and it’s because of the coach and the staff’s sets on the offensive end.

This is not a knock on dončić, he knows he needs to get into even better shape then his currently in to reach his potential.
I haven’t seen anything about a injury update yet if I do, I will post it.

NBA has the best players of the world but they are not allowed to play defense and the league promotes some players via the referees.
FIBA is fair.
The best players prove that with their skills in a fair competition.
Giannis is better now than some years before when it was a disaster for him playing in FIBA rules. He has developed his game but still his main skill is his athleticism.
In NBA he is allowed to push defenders, he is one of the league favorites if not the league favorite.
The fact that the Greek national team accepted the Bucks assistant coach was something very wrong.
That shows that Bucks cared about Giannis image in Eurobasket.
They wanted him to fill his stats in this Eurobasket.
Greece accepted that but that is not how a team works
Yep, unfortunately that is the truth basically in a nutshell. It is also no surprise that so many NBA only fans, in an NBA themed forum are extremely annoyed, ticked off, and obviously triggered by this. But NBA only fans have to understand that outside of their world sports view bubble, this is exactly how this is seen.
And just because US sports related media tries to paint it with a completely made up and biased viewpoint, does not mean that people outside of that same bubble won't see right through it.

So why are people saying Spain when Germany looked great out there. Is it the Hernangomez bros or Rudy?
Some proper context.
Theis was an above average player in EuroLeague, and he has not improved any since then.
Obst is basically a EuroCup level player, or a player for second tier European leagues, below the EuroLeague level. He averaged a whole 2.9 points per game at the EuroLeague level, on an average level team.

For people that only know NBA and just start watching tournaments like these, you have to understand that lots of these players are not at the standard EuroLeague level.

This will sound stupid, but I am a big Heurtel fan, been for years, I feel he is SO underrated.
As an inspiring writer, one of the characters in a fantasy thing I am writing, is losely based of Thomas HeurtelI still hope Italy wins though, great game, Fonteccio chocked.
I've always really liked Heurtel also. But you have to be honest, he's a 100 or 0 player. He has won probably 10 big games (FIBA / EuroLeague) by himself, and he has also lost about 50 such games by himself. He could be the most hated player for many fans of every team he ever played for.
He is hugely skilled as a scorer, but he is also a pure chucker, a bad decision maker, has a low basketball IQ, and he's one of the worst defenders of all time in EuroLeague. If he had played for one of the teams we support, we wouldn't like him as a player. I am sure of that.
There is a reason why every club team he has played on eventually can't wait to get rid of him. He's always been a fun player to watch though.

Fontecchio choked massively by missing those two FTs. He was 16/18 heading into the game, he went 3/6 with two crucial misses.
That's going to haunt Italy.

De Colo was once a great player, but he is miles and miles past his prime. He's barely even good enough to play in EuroLeague now.

Maybe. Theis is low level by NBA standards, but still looked very good yesterday. TBH I look at most of these rosters as "low" level for the most part. But seeing the names on Germany and the way they produced, I can't say I was surprised at all.
Now I again I have no clue who Obst is, but he was nailing all sorts of shots that game. He probably is a lower league player, but what does that say about Greece's guard play?
Anyways why are people so sure about Spain? When IMO the look very beatable and IMO their offense stagnates a little.
