When I say special knowledge, I am thinking more in terms of hidden realities than learned skills. There are millions of far less talented people who go down similar paths of getting caught up in grand conspiracy theories. But yeah I agree that being actually successful at one thing probably makes him feel emboldened in his discernment in other areas and less likely to accept reality checks.
