I'm in the minority here, but I hated JVG..I hate Jackson as well. Pair Breen with someone who isn't going to complain and whine the whole broadcast like Redick.

JVG had his flaws, but he was relatively as unbiased as he could be. Hearing JJ knob polish virtually every star is the other extreme.

Alright I can't be the only one positively stoked about the strong possibility of the Van Gundy brothers doing TNT games together...

Man JVG is worlds better than Mark... Jackson living off one catchphrase as a commentator (though he has toned it down with overusing it) but he's just dull and cliché. At least JVG has some banter and life, he's gotten better in the recent years IMO whereas Jackson has gotten worse.

I can't find the clip but during the Finals Breen, JVG, and Jackson were bantering about their own commentary crew. Mark said "We can do this job with only two commentators" and JVG said "We know who they'd choose"

It can be read both ways. JVG saying they'll choose me because I'm just better at my job // JVG saying they'll choose Mark because he's a company shill.

I like to think the former, but obviously Jackson has the last laugh because JVG was canned. ESPN is only good for their boxscore-checking these days, I hate the narrative driven talking-heads that attempt to be louder or more hot-takey than the other.

That's right! Hahahahha yeah We can do this job with two announcers something like that. JVG's quip back was perfect, My brother and I were in stitches. Do you think that there was some internal discord between Jackson and JVG ? I kind of felt this year's ABC broadcasts with them were a bit more acidic than I recall.

I felt like Breen, JVG, and Jackson developed some good chemistry. Jeff's cranky old guy routine got old, but he was never afraid to say a referee blew a call, complain about flopping, or gripe about some annoying part of the game.
