Now they have more flexibility to theoretically move Cason Wallace in a trade ... Of course for the right guy but he's their 4th most valuable asset most likely .. This seems like the precursor to a bigger move, like a Wallace-Dort-Picks sort of deal for a frontcourt player like Lauri Markanan. So many options

It really comes down to - in 3 years he's been inconsistent. Rough rookie year in %age from range, but big games sprinkled in. Better 2nd year all around, but still issues shooting. 3rd year was wildly up and down, he was boo'ed for his offseason stuff a lot, and his counting stats were reduced (on his best roster to date).

Chicago actually can improve his value, and it might look like a great move where they basically snuck a #6 pick away from a team for a role player and got a quality starter.

The thing is - Giddey has to improve his all-court threat, if he's not able to pull up and cash a 3, or catch and shoot an open shot with consistency, he's going to have the same specter haunting him throughout his career.

His slightly improved 3 point shooting came mostly from taking a lot more corner 3's. If he's going to be the "engine", he's not going to be parked in the corners like he was this year in OKC.

okc trades a higher lotto player for a 30 year old role guy with 1 year left on his deal. dont see how thats good asset management on their part.

We were making redrafts of that draft in 2023, and GIddey was going higher than he originally went. People seriously underestimating just in how much of terrible spot he was this year, and he is 21, kid look good in previous seasons already.

A lot has changed in a year. I don’t even know if he goes top 10 in a redraft now.

Jalen Johnson

All guys I (and I think many others) would take over Giddey right now.

Yup. Giddey isn't even better than Coby White or Ayo. This move is more about OKC though. It absolutely hurts Dallas, Minnesota and Denver.

The Thunder now have 5 above average to elite defenders on the perimeter in Shai, Dort, Caruso, J-Dub and Cason. One is an elite offensive player, a second is on his way to becoming an elite offensive player and then two All-NBA level defenders in Caruso and Dort. Looks a lot similar to what Boston just did with not as much height.

Denver and Minnesota are screwed the most if they don't get some more offensive firepower in the backcourt next to Murray and Antman respectively. They have so many bodies now to throw at elite perimeter scorers.

I crap on Presti for helping Dallas improve, but this move was a home f'n run. If OKC is going to use Caruso off the bench, even better.

OKC with a strong addition to the frontcourt to help Chet on the boards, is now my favorite to represent the West.

Allen is soft. I agree with a paint big, but not him. Rather have big Val backing up Chet if possible.

Valanciunas would be a tremendous fit there.

If Giddey’s potential is not realized in a tanking team like Chicago, then we can officially call him a bust.

This trade is actually best for him, no expectations if winning and just pad up the stats— perfect scenario for the young guy.

Kevin Pelton giving this an A for OKC and a C- for CHI. Spot on imo.

He's a young player that doesn't work well within OKC's system.

If Chicago is blowing it up hes a decent piece to have instead of wasting Caruso's talent. This is a good move for both teams.

There will be a thread next season about okc making a mistake giving up on Giddey.

No way. The Thunder received an all-league defender for a guy who is unplayable when it really matters. This is a franchise altering move to show that Presti isn't messing around and OKC can be in the Finals.

Meh for Chicago. Giddey might settle in as a starter-level player, but he's probably always going to be awkward to build a lineup around.

Giddey is a role player. Any team trying to build a lineup around home is bound for the lottery year after year.

I do think this is a better trade for the Thunder though. Bulls aren't going anywhere anytime soon and Giddey's contract isn't bad though.

Trades like this is the reason why western teams get better and the eastern teams struggle for talent (Giddy is talented but he does not make up for Caruso). Bulls should have gotten way more. Even if all they were going to do is trade those assets. Caruso was a sought after player, they should have negotiated for more especially from OKC that have at least 100 first round picks from at least every team.

This was a money move but The Bulls are trying to lose. OKC won this trade. I wonder how Caruso is gonna fit on OKC.

The Bulls saved some money on this trade, just a lil.

I like Caruso but yea i still don't get it. Hes a 30 year old role player with 1 year left on his deal then hes a 31 year old UFA looking to get paid. People are acting like we were supposed to get a Wemby or Ant level prospect for him. Getting a 21 year old prospect with a few flaws that will need to be improved is as good as we were gonna get.

Denver isn't even able to trade two first round picks. They owe all of their tradable picks.

It's tough to hear, but our team isn't trading for anyone decent. They don't have anything to offer, unless a blind GM looks at Nnaji's contract and thinks he's good.

They could trade their pick on draft day and a future first is what I was getting at. They could trade two if it was on draft day.

The Bulls said no to multiple 1st roudn picks before, so I don't think they're doing that, instead of getting an actual player which was what happened with Giddey.

Happy as a Celtics fan, Caruso would have been brilliant on the Knicks or Bucks.

Chicago not done dealing yet either, suspect LaVine and Vuc will be shipped out at some point,

Getting younger and clearing cap space, wonder if they have decided to try go all in for the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes

Anyone doubting this for OKC is nuts and should be institutionalized. This is a heartbreaking move for any other West team. And is probably only the first domino for OKC. I cannot **** believe this happened.
