Croatia turned it around atm, they are playing too soft in defense. They need to toughen it up a notch and that should be enough. Even with that 10/15 3pt shot NZ are behind 5 at the half time.

NZ up 4 with 15s to go! They're going to do it! Shea Ili, whoever he is, probably won them the game on 2 great drives, Zubac was asleep.

NZ poised to pull the upset! In the other game, the Philippines lead the hosts, Latvia, 32-16 at the end of the first quarter. (This was a Latvia -22.5 spread pregame).

Tall Blacks win 90-86! Teams switched tactics at the half. NZ was only shooting 3s while Croatia kept playing through Zubac in the 1st half, then in 2nd Croatia decided to start chucking 3s while NZ started being aggressive.
Great game from Zubac statistically but he shat the bed defensively in the final minute. Hezonja was horrible and kept chucking 3s in the last couple minutes and missing them all.
NZ are now the favourites to finish 1st, incredible!

i don't know how we're doing this. i imagine the plan was to make the game close and take it from there, maybe hang around and don't get blown out. But we had such a good start maybe we can start to believe we actually have a chance to steal this one. LOL

Everything's going in for us. They seem pretty confident playing over there

It's because every single point counts. If you can shave that 25 point deficit to 18, it can potentially make a huge difference in the final groups standings. That's Slovenia was eager to get 2 free throws at the very end of the game. The Euroleague and many domestic leagues are the same. Teams play until the final buzzer sounds.

That said, yes, some rest would probably do Luka good, though I believe he would just be lazy, drink and gain weight, but it could still help his overall health. Plus, the positive emotions from drinking booze and eating can still be beneficial.

This is not it. Their group is Croatia, New Zealand, Slovenia. They're getting that number two seed and the race for number 1 seed was lost right here. New Zealand would need something crazy to win a game, +/- most likely means jack in this group. They lost that game, just sit your guys, now they HAVE to win 3 games on 4 nights either way.

Like I said, every point matters in this format.

Well, tall blacks shut up me, for sure. At least i seem to be right on some things, sooner or later, Latvia has to come down to earth. Not like I dont expect them to win here, but people seriously put them right there with European elite.

Latvia starting to get frustrated. i guess the solution was to just show up and maybe we'd have a shot. Every guy in our team playing their hearts out, so liking the inspired effort from all over. Let's see if the real Latvian team shows up in the second half-- hope they don't so that the hobbits from our side of the world show them that we know a bit of our basketball. :D

i expect Latvia's fight back very, very early in the third. This just does not make sense and we're known to fold in these big moments. Again, hoping i am wrong and that we have matured enough and not give up this lead. In case we do, we just hope it's close until the end of the game and maybe we can steal it.

The all-important Points Difference in this group:

Croatia (1-1): +12
New Zealand (1-0): +4
Slovenia (0-1): -16

To make things simple, Slovenia HAS to beat NZ by 11 points and both Slovenia and Croatia advances:
Slovenia (-16, +11) = -5
Croatia = +12
NZ (+4, -11) = -7

(If SLO beats NZ by exactly 6 points i believe we go to the next tiebreaker which is points scored (have to double check).
