Kyrie simply doesn't want his career to be orchestrated by LeBron, and he's willing to forgo a sure chance of reaching the playoffs and even the finals to pursue his dream his own way. Call it an ego trip or whatever, but it's at least refreshing that some guys won't gargle LeBron's nutsack.

Kyrie was willing to lead a young, rebuilding team and recruit stars to play with him. Then in 11 days it changed to whatever LeBron wants he gets. It's unfortunate that LeBron just wants old washed up shooters who play no defense and threw out every young prospect and draft pick to do so. This team was a joke in the finals despite having a great offense all year, and it only gets worse with age.

Anyways, Cavs fans should be happy Kyrie is leaving because if LeBron is as narcissistic as we all think, he'll stay in Cleveland to counter all the chatter of him to LA being a reason Kyrie wants out now.

For the simple fact that everybody is glossing over for some reason. HES UNDER CONTRACT.

Like I have said in 10 previous posts, not all Cavs fans would hate Kyrie if he just decided to go his separate way after his contract expired and he was a FA. His words and response would be 100% understandable at that junction. The fact that hes causing internal drama when he is smack dab in the middle of a 5 year deal he signed by demanding a trade away from a title contender is the frustrating part to Cavs fans.

HIS talent was a major reason why LeBron came back in the first place and now hes bolting because he has a equally large ego about his self worth as LeBron does basically ending the Cavs fans 5-7 year awesome window of championship runs prematurely at 3 years.

But Kyrie signed his contract before LeBron made his move. He didn't anticipate this drama. I'm sure he was happy to learn how to be successful and lead a team. KLove isn't complaining because he had a chance to evaluate what sacrifices he's willing to make in order to win, and THEN he re-signed. Kyrie had no choice/say in the matter but he soldier'd on anyways.

Same thing happened with Blatt. He signed on with acknowledgement from the front office that he was an experiment, but was low risk high reward for a rebuilding team. Then LeBron comes and all experimentation with Euro style player movement went out the door. Granted he wasn't ready for the NBA, much less handling super egos on his team, but he was on contract and did the best he could. Didn't stop LeBron from starting a coup against him.

But the straw breaking moment for Kyrie was being devalued by the organization under LeBron's direction in offering him up in trades. Again, Kyrie signed his contract being told "You're the man...we love you here....we'll build around you"---->3 years later "hey Kyrie, we might trade you because LeBron can't win with you".

If Cavs fans should be pissed at anything, be pissed at LeBron for starting this drama (again, this has been going on since he came back--ie: subtweeting, or just plain screaming at people on the court) and not understanding how to build a team long term. Look hard at the Cavs when he first left, they were a joke. The only team that opposed his demands were Pat Riley and the Heat and you can see they rebuilt themselves within a couple of years despite losing their 2 other all stars.

Agreed, I would take CP3 over Irving for he next 3 years, beyond that is too far to look at in today's NBA.

The delays that the Cavs brought on themselves ended up costing them CP3 and that is likely to end up costing them LBJ too. The Clippers lost out on Kyrie which hurts but nowhere near the same extent of the damage caused back to Cleveland.

Considering that the Cavs used the Clippers pick (from the Baron Davis trade) to draft Kyrie, it would have been poetic justice.

Because all he had to do was play out the season, make another run at a ring, inform the Cavs he didn't intend on re-signing with them, and the Cavs would've happily traded him to someone on his list. To do this now goes beyond selfish.

I don't see this happening, but Kyrie has no say over where he goes.

Maybe because that is perhaps fake news, and the reason he wants out is he doesn't want to be stuck on a team built for Lebron without Lebron. He's already been through that in his career.

I've heard people say this but it's not true. The 2011 team that Kyrie joined as a rookie had maybe one or two players who were on LBJ's 2009-10 team. He was a lottery player who joined a bad team like the overwhelming majority of lottery players.

Which LeBron will end up leaving the Cavs.
Imagine if you are Kyrie and know this, how annoying is to stay in a situation that you are beholden to the King's decision.

He wants to get in front of it. He has leverage, LeBron in 2 or 3 years will be a lesser version of the current LeBron. Why should Kyrie have to deal with this, when LeBron is about go past his prime.

Even if the Cavs keep Kyrie, Kyrie has changed the narrative going into next year. It's no longer about LeBron, it will be about Kyrie. Smart move by Kyrie seeing a couple moves a head.

Yes, people are underestimating what kind of a **** show the Cavs will be this year with the media CONSTANTLY asking about LeBron's future. They'll be asking his teammates as well.

Plus, imagine stretches where the Lakers and Lonzo are doing really well, or if the Cavs are struggling as they always do. Those talks will build like wild fire.

Just this past season we heard from Knicks players that the whole Melo-PJax drama and trade rumors were a huge distraction.

It's worse for the Cavs because if LeBron leaves, the Cavs have no immediate way to rebuild.

ZERO draft picks
ZERO young prospects worth building around--Shumpert, TT, JR have already peaked sadly
ZERO tradeable assets--nobody wants the Cavs old junk.

Even if LeBron stayed, Kyrie would be stuck on a team with players he never wanted, only to get to the finals and be trounced because the Cavs have no room to keep building.

And think about this, despite being a finals lock each year, the better quality ring chasers aren't flocking to the Cavs for that min or MLE. The Cavs just have very little upside.

He hates LeGM for trying to trade him, he hates the organization for constantly giving into LeBron. It's not uncommon for players to be spurned by their organizations and then want out in the midst of their contracts. In fact, it's not uncommon in everyday jobs as well. Kyrie simply cannot play another minute with LeBron. The dude is giving up his eligibility to sign a huge contract. Like he hates LeBron so much he'll give up 10s of millions of dollars. LeBron went from promising Kyrie they'll be back to the finals this year, and then giving the OK to trade him not a few weeks later.

Maybe be pissed at LeBron for being such a snake in the grass.

I'd be more upset if fans of teams got used to and began accepting stars demanding out while under contract. Theyre free to do as they wish, but we as fans should be disappointed.

The only rumor I heard where Kyrie was even in trade talks was a three-way deal where the Cavs would've gotten Bledsoe & PG. Gilbert called LBJ and asked him if he would extend if PG would extend with him. LBJ said no because he didn't want Kyrie traded. Kyrie's resentment of the Cavs being LBJ's team predated any trade discussions this summer. I'm not buying that wooden nickle.

We'll eventually hear the story throughout the season. Anyways, I don't see Kyrie being with the Cavs by training camp. And if he is, the team will play miserably because the environment in the lockeroom will be pure toxic.

Re: Kings offer De'Aaron Fox for Kyrie

Post#2014 » by Tim Kempton » Mon Jul 24, 2017 9:23 pm

Hopefully this is untrue because for the time being, it makes zero sense for either. Kyrie's a very good player, but the Kings are headed in the right direction with their youth movement. What does Kyrie do other than improve them to a 33-35 win team that still misses the playoffs and nets a worse pick than they would without Kyrie. He doesn't align with their roster.

The only way Fox might work out for the Cavs is if they know for a fact LeBron is leaving after the season. If that's the case, Fox gives them an early piece to build around before they officially begin rebuilding. Conversely, dealing Irving for Fox destroys what little chance they already have of winning this year.
