In all fairness, I think the Memphis Grizzlies really DID prove they are better than the Thunder last night. You can learn everything you need to know about the regular season from preseason games.

For example :
Byron Mullens is going to be the starting center for OKC
James Harden will be the leading scorer for OKC, followed by DaeQuan Cook.
The grizzlies will shoot nearly 70% on the year, shattering NBA records
The Thunder will give lots of minutes to Royal Ivey, DJ White, and Millsap's much shorter brother.
Kevin Durant won't shoot a good percentage on FT's.
Also, the T-wolves are better than the Lakers.

Seriously, a preseason game just proved this to you?

Grizzlies starters destroyed the Thunder starters, all that matters

I like their team's structure.

Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Darryl Arthur and Hasheem Thabeet is a good rotation of big men.

Although they can use a more of a jump shooting big man instead of Thabeet, because Marc Gasol is more than enough at the C.

Thabeet needs to start to really develop into a 10/12/4 center he has the potential to be.

I follow the Grizzlies and even though I think they could improve I still see them at best #8 in the West and possibly #10. They still don't have a really good sixth man, Conley is a decent but not great starting pointguard, and even though they have a solid starting five, they got lucky last year staying away from injuries until Gasol injured his neck in the late part of the season and we all saw how they fell out of the playoff race after that.

They need better depth still and if one key injury happens they are in trouble.

Fair enough. I wasn't taking issue with the idea that the Grizzlies won't make the playoffs. I've already said (throughout this thread) that's a distinct possibility.
My problem (aside from the fact that I can be pedantic) was your description of what the Grizz and its personnel are or are not.
Anyhow, let's just agree to disagree. Hatchet buried? :P

People will just say they are having a "nice" run, but I'll expect them to say that. This team has been playing excellent basketball since December. The key is for us to finish strong.

I think we could be a top 5 team in the West, but we have to start winning our matchups against teams like NO, DEN, POR and UTAH. New Orleans had those huge winning streaks that inflated their record. Denver is finally falling apart and Utah is heading that way. Portland is playing great ball though. When its all said and done, I believe Denver and Utah will be fighting for that 7th-8th spot with Phoenix. Memphis, Portland and New Orleans will be fighting to get that 5th seed.

Those teams have had our number in the past.

Its our time to get them back.

Dudes...you're supposed to bump if/when they actually become #5 in the west. Come on now. It just makes for a better thread.

Memphis about to move just 2 games behind New Orleans for the 5th seed! With Utah not fairing well without Sloan so far, Portland's injuries, Denver's Melo-Drama, and New Orleans without West, I could see the Grizzlies sliding into the 5th spot by seasons end.

23-12 since December 8th, 17-7 since Christmas. I think it's hilarious how 70% of the posts in this topic mocked Grizzlies fans for suggesting they have top 5 potential.

What now? Anyone wanna man up?

Injuries just make Portland stronger, they're 21-11, since Roy went down.

The Grizzlies have been playing well but didn't they play well for stretches last year too? I mean, Zach Randolph made the all-star team. Don't get too cocky now.

Damn...

I don't know who's worse with hyping their "ok" team more, Grizz fans or Bulls fans.

Damn you OJMayoMVP32!

I was looking forward to bumping this thread when we took over the 5th spot so we'd have the stats to back us up. All we can hope for now is to not let this thread down.

How long will Rudy be hurt. The injury looks like a 2-4 week one.

I don't know, but thank God for the All-Star break.
