Never doubted that the guy was good, but to act like this guy is the mvp is insane. He was the 4th scoring option on a championship team....thats how good the lakers were. well, maybe third option. idk if I would say that he is without a doubt the 2nd best center when healthy either. Andrew Bogut is pretty damn good, and is still recovering from that terrible injury.

Let's just face it: Bynum is a beast! MVP? NO way! but he is very good! #2 center today, when healthy...which sadly isn't often. I may be too bias though :)

Hopefully the Lakers can lock this guy up to a long term contract and he will be their center for many years to come.

I've come to terms that Dwight is leaving Orlando. With that said, I prefer Bynum over a boring Brook lopez any day of the week as long we can unload our bad contracts to the lakers. I just don't like the picks the Lakers have to offer.

This is pretty much a win win for the lakers assuming Bynum stays healthy which I know is an issue within itself. if Bynum continues to produce as a 20/10 player his value goes up meaning the lakers would have to package less with him to bring D. Howard. If for some reason the deal just doesn't get done then we keep our 20/10 guy and go to battle with the guys we have.

It never surprises me when Bynum has games like that. I think he should aim for an 18/10 type of season. He's capable of doing that without Odom around. The guy should just change his name to Andrew Bynum WhenHesHealthy

I hate Bynum, but he is a beast in the post. Strong at every aspect of the game on both ends as long as you are within 6 feet of the basket.

But since he's on the Lakers, the cynicism permeates through the season's greetings.

Happy New Year Everyone!

More like if Bynum wasn't one of the biggest thugs in the NBA most would congratulate him.

Have I missed anything? Other than the ugly foul on Berea, what has Bynum done to deserve the "thug" title?

He caught Beasley with one similar, and he also caused Gerald Wallace to get a collapsed lung.

I like Bynum, nonetheless.......Great player. But you just can not ignore that injury history.

I dont know about a thug but his immaturity level is lower than highschool student. Parking in handicapped places, driving on the wrong side of the road, speeding, No license plate.

All the other times he did the same exact thing? the guy IS a thug and comparing him to Grant Hill is ridiculous. Idiots saying people pick on him for being a Laker when him being a Laker is the only reason anyone would defend him.

Ugh minus the hard fouls, Bynums "issues" and 'immaturity" has never EVER affected him on the basketball floor. He's a very hard worker, accepted his smaller role on the offense while its obvious that he could easily fulfill a bigger one, trained hard and recovered from all of his injuries physically and mentally, and never let Kobe's criticism or trade rumors effect his play. People on this board need to stop acting like he's Javale Maggee or Demarcus Cousins

How has TraderJoe not worked his way into this thread yet to trash Bynum and talk about how Brook Lopez's day at home watching Bynum play was much more productive?

If his immaturity level is lower than a high school student, then it's a good thing bro.

I seem to remember McHale being hailed a hero for his clothesline on Rambis. I still see people posting jpegs and gifs of Bell's clothesline on Kobe. All we heard about those plays was the "toughness" and hard-nosed attitude those guys provided for their teams.

There is a double standard when it comes to the Lakers. I learned and accepted that at a young age. Its why I have no issue with what Bynum did. He's a thug? GOOD! Guys are afraid to come in the paint? GOOD! Atleast you can't call the Lakers a soft team when he's out there. If he were wearing any other jersey we'd be talking about what a tough presence he brings to the team, a la Bell/McHale.

Bogut was better than Bynum two years ago. It's not a crazy point to argue that Bynum has already surpassed him today. The hate goes overboard in this thread.

I bet that if Bynum pulled a cheap shot like this on Kobe Bryant assuming he played for another team Laker fans would be calling him the biggest thug in the NBA bar none. But as long as hes not putting Lakers into the hospital its all good right?

If we still lived in the old rough and tumble days when this stuff was more allowed then I would have no problem with it. The problem arises when Bynum does this #$^^ knowing that the only repercussion he faces is a few games suspension and perhaps a small fine at most.

I mean I have no problem with hits like this in sports that have it as the freaking objective like Football. But this is nasty street ball Bynum is playing, and funnily enough some of the fouls occured when the Lakers were getting schooled. Basically turning Bynum into a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum that can hurt other players.

I mean if Bynum isn't a thug or dirty... well then Bowen wasn't if you are trying to justify him and his actions.

Don't get me wrong... there are very few guys who are mofos. I mean guys who you want on your team despite their shortcomings. I would love to have Bynum but he is a injury risk, but there are less than a handful of players that have his size and ability to be an all NBA type talent at the center position.
