If you're charged with developing Maker, I think your plan is to help him develop the ability to use his size and athleticism to contest shots on defense, and take his fairly effective shooting and get it to a level where he can effectively space the floor.

Whether he's 19 or 23, I think you can do that. I don't think he has the body type to develop the strength or fluidity and "bend" to ever be an amazing offensive creator, but either way he can turn into a strong rotation player with a rare and coveted combination of talents.

Except that this absolutely never happened. The only evidence ever presented for Biyombo not being his listed age was a rumor before the draft that some GMs were concerned about his age, with the only given reason being simply that he is from the Congo. He also had a bone age test done in Spain when he initially moved there from the Congo that concluded that his age at the time was 16-17, but almost certainly not older than that. His listed age at that time of the test was 16. This is nothing more than a story that people believe because people like stories.

I'm not taking sides, but they did a study in India on epiphyseal fusion in the wrist, and there wasn't 100% fusion for males until the 20 - 21 age group. Also, this information was from Biyombo's agent who presumably paid a doctor of his choosing and arranged the entire thing alone w/ no involvement from an impartial party. So it's not really conclusive evidence.

Interesting, that is possible, i've seen the photo of him in year 11 where he looks about 6'5-6'6. I know for a fact that in about 1.5 years after those photos he was about 6'10. So yeah that would be a big growth spurt for something who was 16-17. But that seems like a huge growth spurt for any age, so who knows

No, all it requires you to believe is that a school (it's 7th through 12th, so not even strictly a high school) that holds itself out as an ESL program for incoming foreigners actually does so.

Conversely, you would have to believe that all his immigration records were faked to believe the opposite. Think about that for a second: his handlers are smart enough to fake his birthdate on the front side, but then decided to have him make two trips through documented high schools? I'm not buying that.
