Maybe one of the white guys is really non-racist.
That makes sense at least.

That brawl was insane. Also, seeing McGregor get whooped on when the other guy ran into the ring was weird.

I hate UFC, boxing is so much more fun to watch.

It's a really stupid move by Khabib, but literally the two things you don't mess with Khabib about are religion/culture and his father, and Conor insulted both. Really not sure why Conor's teammate thought it'd be a good idea to provoke Khabib further after the fight.

It all seems so simple, right?

Racist? They're both white. Just different nationalities.

The concept of racism is not, if you'll forgive the term, a black and white issue. Racism has existed in many forms far beyond the level of melanin in someone's skin.

From a historical perspective we are coming up on the 100th anniversary of the "War to End All Wars." That conflict, like so many others in the 19th & 20th centuries have deep-seated racism in their roots; but it would not be as immediately recognized by many Americans where "white is white" and similar perspectives.

One of the major factors of Hitler's assault on Europe was racism. I'm not speaking of the Jewish residents; but rather the expansive and diverse Slavic peoples whom Hitler and like-minded individuals considered to be inferior races. Similar mentalities have existed on pretty much every continent (I cannot speak on the hearts and minds of the penguins of Antarctica).

The human race has not evolved so much that the idea that racism could still exist as a factor between fighters of Irish and Avar descent. Of course, we are talking about Mixed Martial Arts which is the modern epitome of aggression and over-compensation.

the most recent Banksy story is a real head-shaker:

https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2018/oct/06/banksy-sothebys-auction-prank-leaves-art-world-in-shreds-girl-with-balloon

what amazes me is that, apparently, a painting that was worth 1.4 million dollars is now worth twice that after being shredded. So, what makes more sense: being an NBA fan or being an art fan?

What really unacceptable was his entourage who climbed over the fence and sucker punch Conor

Apparently new footage emerged suggesting Conor was the one who throw the first punch at Khabib’s teammates in the ring, what a turn of a event

No wonder he didn’t press charges

I don't watch MMA so I don't have a horse in this race, but of course Connor's antics and now this post-match brawl have extended beyond the sport. Connor is a known agitator to promote the matches he's in. It's a ridiculous peacock act, and it's my understanding he's been punished when he crossed too far (something about a chair and bus incident?). I'm not minimizing or justifying what he does, just laying out what I understand his role to be.

As for this brawl after the match because of taunting words, I think it is beyond the pale. The camp of the winner and people who justify physical violence as punishment for taunting words is less to do with defending religion or family and more with might is right. Isn't religion supposed to instill a deeper sensibility of moral principles? This post isn't about judgement, because everybody falls short, but it's about trying to understand the thought process of defending insults with violence. It's a dangerous precedent. It just has no place, and shouldn't be justified even if people provide cultural contexts. It's not as if the winner's camp didn't know what they were doing was wrong; they did, but did it anyway. That, and the fact that they planned on doing it plus bragged about it afterwards make for a justification of bad behaviour and hiding behind a seemingly honourable fig leaf.

I didn't like it when Zidan put his team in jeopardy by headbutting the Italian taunting player, and don't think this incident should be condoned or justified either.

She's a really underrated performer. I saw her live, and she legit played every single instrument, while singing. One of the few artists in the last year whose album I bought.

Is she big time yet, looking for upcoming artists to do production with. I don't care if she's talented or not just want to know if she's getting the spotlight

I went and saw "A Star is Born" on Tuesday night with my current girlfriend. It was a fantastic movie, maybe not the type most of the RealGM board would go for, but both Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga were stellar in it...I would expect both of them to be nominated for awards for their performances.

I'd give it a solid 9.3/10. There were one or two songs that didn't captivate me but the rest were top notch. Especially the final song.

If anyone can tell me about a better singer alive today than Sohyang, I'd like to hear them.
