What exactly makes Tatum more talked about/ranked higher than Pascal Siakim?

Siakem isn’t an all-star level player. He is and will be a very good NBA player for his career. And that ok.

Usually if a player is near his ceiling he starts flatlining. Siakam has been improving from game to game, even within games. I honestly have never seen anything quite like it. I thought for sure by this point he’d be getting blocked all the time, but he keeps coming up with new moves and pushing his shooting.

He may plateau but I haven’t seen it yet. Just because he’s a certain age doesn’t mean much in that regard.

And I say that as someone who thinks Tatum has a brighter future. He just seems to have the poise you can build a team around.

I disagree. Tatum developed early. He pretty much has his adult body already. He had it last year too. Siakim is still skinny and has more room to add strength and weight without sacrificing his athleticism.

realistically, you could still possibly build round Tatum. banking on someone becoming great is never an exact science but he's not an awful bet.

It's crazy when you think about it. The only teams I can think of who had the luck of the Pelicans were the 49ers and the Colts. The 49ers with Montana and Young, the Colts with Manning and Luck. Chris Paul is an analytical dream for a basketball player. His advance stats are ridiculous. Anthony Davis is third in lifetime PER. Only Jordan and LeBron are better, and yet, the Pelicans couldn't win.

Out of that list, Kuzma is the only good player. Ingram was possibly the worst defender in the league last season and he didn't improve much this year. Lonzo cannot shoot.. And the picks are (best case scenario) late first round. Meanwhile, Tatum was leading his team in points in 3-4 games of the eastern finals. I mean, come on man.. And, I imagine the Pelicans would ask for Tatum+Brown. That is the perfect combination to rebuild with.

Actually Ingram is playing better averaging 19ppg and 25ppg in his last 7 games.

Lonzo is a stud.

Draft picks are uncertain in the future but this years looks to be in the middle of the round.

Other than that, you are 100% right and wise about the Lakers.

I mean he is better than any of them while also being younger - how does that not count? Do you really think age doesn't matter when judging prospects? :lol:

If Siakam was having this same season but at 20 years old instead of 25 it would make him a more coveted prospect than any blue chipper in the league - age matters a lot for new players.

Some of you guys probably thought Malcolm Brogdon was going to be a superstar or something.
