Len is on minutes restriction due to back and ankle injuries. Huerter is injured, he hasn't had full day practices so CLP held him out until he does.

I like what Hunter brought to the table, we just need to see more of it. I am glad we won't have to see much of Jones in the regular season; hurts me to watch him play as a starter. He will take Bazemore's spot as the tank commander should the Hawks go into that mode.

I'd rather they just throw Bruno in the fire than play Jones. Eech!

I think that will be the case for Bruno sooner than later. Pierce said we would love Hunter on both ends of the floor; and so far so good.

He played well but let's be honest. You guys were playing your main rotation guys for the entire game. And RJ played 39 minutes. A significant portion of which came against players who will either be in the G-League or at the end of the bench never getting real minutes. He looked solid, but he's going to need a lot of time to grow and develop a feel for the game. I'd also love if he finished above the rim more in traffic. He certainly has the length, size and jumping ability. Good defenses with big Men that rotate to give help and going to take away a lot of these ground-based layups.

As a basketball fan I would love to see MPJ stay healthy and win the award but can you blame the OP or others for not thinking about MPJ? Obviously this is a well known fact but he did only play three games in college due to a back injury and missed the entire season last year because he needed a 2nd surgery on his back.

yea at this point might as well give Bruno Jones' minutes, Jones has already been tried, he just doesn't have it

Then wouldn't it be wiser if OP put the "ROTY vote" after the pre-season?

Just my 2 cents

Zion is really going to be the reincarnation of Charles Barkley. I know that's a comparison that people have been making for ages now, but I thought it was for the wrong reasons, just because they're big (fat) and they're short for their position. The athleticism and body control though, this guy is going to dominate the paint at 6'7. I was not 100% sold on Zion being a post up scorer, and it's funny that I'm more convinced than ever in a game where he didn't post up (maybe I missed it but I don't recall) and against Atlanta no less (no offense Hawks fans), but seeing him rise up so effortlessly against several NBA sized bodies, spinning away and swerving through guys much bigger than him, you can't help but see the parallel between them now.

RJ could be a culture-changer type pick for the Knicks. He's a ruff rider and he's resilient. Played poorly in the first half against Washington but led the charge in the 3rd quarter and sealed the win at the free throw line.

He needs to work on his shot. That will make or break him. He has the NBA body and mentality, but he lacks elite athleticism. Having a deadly outside shot will open much of his game up.

As a Cavs fan I am very excited about the early reports on both Garland and Porter Jr.

Garland is just a natural scorer tailor made for this era. But that was never in question. The real concerns are his playmaking and defense. His vision actually looked okay last night though; he's definitely more of a point guard than Sexton.

Porter looked a lot better than I expected him to. The way he drives is honestly really Harden-like. He has the physical tools to be a good player, but I don't know if he has the head on his shoulders to put it together judging from what happened in college.

DeAndre Hunter looked the part of a NBA ready player and Cam Reddish's place in the league might be as a 3D spot up shooter. Zion and RJ stole the night but the young Hawks accounted for themselves pretty well. Cam with his 11 points in 15 minutes looked like a #10 steal on this night.

Magic are next up for the Hawks. Maybe we get to see Bruno Fernando and Reddish a little more in this game.

Honestly looks like the typical RJ game. Inconsistent jumper, but even if the jumper isn't working, the dude puts his head down and finds a way to put up production. Some games he gets it going and the numbers looks good, some games he never gets it going and its really painful to watch, but luckily most of the time its the first option. The dude plays with a ton of passion and fire, for him there really is only two questions. Will that jumper ever become consistent and will he ever put in the effort defensively consistently.

He has the confidence of a young TMac; but he still has to be consistent. Until he starts making free throws, I have a hard time believing his jumper will be consistent. His shooting is the key for me.

Agreed but his defense so far since the summer has been really really good.

Agreed but his defense so far since the summer has been really really good. Theres also a video about his driving to the basket explaining how he finishes are by design even though they look out of control. His passing has been great. Will be interesting to see his progression.
