Nobody on the Kings or Wolves roster is gonna make the Sixers favorites even if the Kings say trades Fox which for Simmons wouldn’t make much sense because it wouldn’t make you much better

Obviously, but players like Fox or Edwards give you another piece you can use to get you there.

Trading Simmons for trash is just giving up on the window the sixers have with Embiid.

lol Edwards for Simmons. even without the distractions, that's not happening.

It's especially funny to see it coming from the board that can't stop crying about player empowerment but they have no issue with this overpaid bum trying to force his way out after stinking it up in the playoffs AGAIN.

I hope the Sixers bury Simmons on the bench for the next 4 years but you surely won't see me crying in every thread once they trade him.

He has done nothing for the franchise, he's been acting like an unprofessional jerk ever since they stopped coddling him for the 1st time in 5 years and you want them to do him a favor? They probably figured if they're not gonna get anything valuable for him, they're at least gonna do it on their own terms and maybe send a message to fellow bums across the league while they're at it so stop bitching about it and enjoy the show. :wizard:

This would be a v very dumb option for the 6ers to take. Simmons has 4/147 left on his contract. Having him sit and rot on the bench means youre wasting 30+ mil of cap every year. They're currently in the middle of Embiid's prime and want to try and compete for a championship. You're not competing for a championship with 30+ mil of cap wasted sitting on the bench.

They're over the cap by more than his contract....that's the biggest problem here. With Harris and Ben signed, they have no way to fix their roster if they give Ben away.

They had solid offers. This is all on Philly living in a dream world where they thought they were getting Dame or Beal

The 6ers value Ben more then the players that were in those “solid” offers. The 6ers want a game changer for Ben. And I bet they’re willing to wait out the 4 years until they get the deal they want.

Outstanding! To go from having the number one pick with Embiid and Simmons and cap space to this is one of the biggest failures in NBA history.

You’re right, Embiid isn’t dumb. If the Sixers keep bungling this situation and fail to put a good enough team around him, he’ll just ask out. No sense in letting his prime be ruined by diva costars and incompetent management.

Morey is messing up. Getting Brogdon/Levert would have been maybe 80cents on the dollar, the offers are just going to get worse is the drama continues.

That's 30 cents at best man. That lineup just doesn't have any chance in hell at winning a title unless Embiid goes full hakeem and if he does that then whatever. They don't need to replace ben I guess.

If you can get a Fox level player, the Sixers should have done it last week. Otherwise, there is such a thing as addition by subtraction when it comes to a lockerroom problem... no one wants to believe it, but it is a real thing. At this point, the Sixers could legit just be better off not having him around when things get this bad.

I disagree. Players are not a monolithic block who all think and act the same way. When the player's union speaks it is to defend the common rights of all players. When individual players push the limits of the labor contract, then it is not clear how the rest of the players will feel about it. After all, KD, Harden, Embiid and others are also players, and they clearly do not like the distractions caused by these behaviors.

You really think that Morey & Doc didn't know that this will happen or didn't expect this?

Don't be naive.

This is really becoming about not trading him for the highest value, but not letting Klutch and Ben have their own way.

Sixers will fine and suspend Simmons as much as they can. If he keeps repeating they will hit where it will hurt - the money side.

I think they probably just decided that F U Ben & his agents.

At the moment it's a principle. Right or wrong they will feed Simmons to Philly crowd and see what happens then.

Yeah, which is why i literally said that Morey is right to wait.

The offers right now are worse than what they will be when teams get more desperate close to the trade deadline, 20 games into the season or even the next season.

Almost everyone here knew the second that playoff series was done, Simmons was done in Philly as well. The writing was on the wall. But for some reason Morey was pretty much looking for an AD kind of return in a trade. Then all summer Simmons made it loud and clear he was done in Philly. Yet it got to the point where in October Doc and Morey think forcing Simmons back to the team was going to solve the situation?

Dont get me wrong Im not saying Simmons is innocent in all of this. But Morey has handled this just about as bad as any GM could've.

Are you asking me what's my opinion? i just think morey was asking stupid prizes from team like portland because he's not interested in what they have to offer unless it includes Lillard.

Packages of interest for him include guys like Edwards or Fox/Haliburton. And for packages like that you just need to play the long game.

Most teams are capped after the the contracts given this off season, the only way to improve for a lot of them is to make a trade. If teams like the Wolves or the Kings underperfom the pressure for them to make a move will increase.

Simmons is the last chip the team have, throwing it out in fear is just giving up. The Sixers are not gonna win the east anyway this season, Morey knows this and Embiid too. They can even use the Simmons situation to justify an early underperforming.

I get it, that was Morey's hope that they could force Simmons to play and he has a good season and a team come trade deadline time or next summer get desperate and they trade for him. That option is off the table. There is no playing the long game with this Simmons situation. Simmons value is falling and the only change in that is how much faster could it possible drop. Morey drastically misplayed this situation.

Also Embiid knows they arent going to win it all this year and is cool with it? He's cool with using this Simmons situation as an excuse on why the team underperformed? If that is the case, my respect for Embiid would be as low as my respect for Simmons. There is no way a MVP caliber player in the middle of his prime who is on a 50+ win team is thinking to himself, "ya its cool if we waste a max cap space, we have no chance of winning this year anyways."

Haha that is clearly not happening. Also if that is Morey's outlook as well while having a MVP caliber player in the middle of his prime, Morey doesnt deserve to ever work in a front office again.

If a gm/team is running the team this way they should be fired asap.

This kinda reminds me of when Carter requested a trade out of Toronto. Granted he didn't do all of this, but his effort level was at an all time low, then he gets traded to NJ and starts putting up monster numbers.

8 pages of fans thinking this is worthy of a games suspension, in this situation? Right now, if im the sixers, I want to increase his trade value. I do that in public eyes, not during practice drills when nobody can see.

This is so confusing. Darryl Morey doesnt understand how modern human leadership work. Frankly questioning how Doc got away with it all these years, but he's always been good at hiring the right personnel behind him, and having his teams buy in. He's awful when his teams don't (i guess its why he leaves whenever he gets the chance).

If 1 player doesn't respect the court, it all breaks down. They can't keep SImmons acting like a fool in practice/games because it will demotivate everyone.

Acting like a fool for skipping a defensive drill? In this context? Its provoking for Doc to choose this as his battle to stick with... and confusing.

Doc is not coaching Simmons. I imagine Ben wants to make that clear to everyone on the team. At that point, it becomes about egos for everyone, including Doc.

As a coach, just let it be and move on. You want the guy there, and at games. He's in shape, he's not Jimmy Butler'ing practice and **** on people, he's not skipping offensive drills (which he needs more than those defensive drills), he's not skipping any team-oriented drills that focus on structure.

Is it professional for team cohesion for him to be skipping drills and actively skipping defensive drills? No. I dont agree with it. But I also don't agree with how the Sixers have handled him as a human being either.

Also, until Doc addresses the whole "its in your fking contract to play", its not in Ben's fking contract to respect the coach. Its a way two way street and one he feels anything is too little too late.

Nevermind what any of us think of all of this from a moral perspective, or what you think of Simmons as a person (which Simmons doesn't and shouldn't care about), but it's straight up counterproductive to his apparent goal.

If Simmons increased his trade value, it wouldn't help at all, because Morey would then ask for more and nothing would get done.
Now Philly will have to trade Simmons for peanuts, just to end the distraction, even if that means firing Morey first.

If Simmons came back and balled out, more teams would start offering real value and be confident about acquiring Simmons. At this point, I feel like some teams have him completely off the board and aren't even entertaining sending off legitimate assets for him. I don't see why Morey would trade him away for the value Simmons is at right now, much better to just suspend him and keep him around.

Simmons value isn’t gonna go up.

Teams know his strengths and limitations.

No contender is gonna trade for his contract knowing how little impact he makes in the playoffs.

A team that will trade for him will be somebody who hasn’t made the playoffs in a long time and would be happy just to have him help them make the playoffs rather then worry about what he can’t do in the playoffs.

The problem is Morey wants a star back in return. He’s not getting that.

Desperate for what? A guy with a max deal that can't shoot and an attitude problem? He's not a guy like Beal that definitively gets you over the hump. It's a gamble just to see if his playing style and flaws won't cap your team to a first or second round exit. If anyone is going to get desperate it's Philly.

Ehhh, the only bridge that would be burnt here would be Rich Paul, but I think most players probably understand at this point that Simmons is not blameless. You have a superstar guy in Embiid coming out and taking shots at Simmons and I'm sure players notice those things. This isnt Simmons vs. the front office; its Simmons vs. his team.
