Re: Ceiling of Evan Mobley
Mixture of Chris Bosh and Kevin Garnett. He needs a better handle and shot

Re: Ceiling of Evan Mobley
He's a defensive player who is competent on O. He doesnt have near the size or length of Garnett, nor the offensive IQ, nor the tenacity. And Bosh was in a different tier as an offensive player. Mobley's arch type is defensive big men, with play-finishing abilities.

Re: Ceiling of Evan Mobley
He’s basically tracking towards Bam right now unless he develops offensively.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Re: Ceiling of Evan Mobley
I would like to see Mobley have a year where he could put up an inefficient higher volume scoring year. I think it could do a lot for his offensive game. But the Cavs are looking to contend now and have Mitchell and Garland who are going to be the #1 and #2 options. Doesnt really leave much room to allow Mobley to takes some bumps and bruises with his offensive game but also allow it to grow.
Kind of reminds me of Boston a few years back where they had a bunch of guys all vying for shots. When it was time to just rip the band aid off and allow Tatum and Brown to jack up shots and really grow their games.
I just feel like if youre going to spend a top 3 pick on a guy like Mobley. Gotta give him a year to see if he does have that next level in him. But again with this Cleveland team, not sure they have the roster for him to do that.

I'm a huge fan of Mobley but that was a pathetic outing from him in the playoffs. Get your ass in the gym to get stronger and put up some jumpers.

Someone mentioned Tim Duncan and he has nowhere near the offensive skillset those 3 players had.Asianiac_24 wrote:Mixture of Chris Bosh and Kevin Garnett. He needs a better handle and shot

Re: Ceiling of Evan Mobley
He was overrated coming out. People said he was “elite” lmao. He’s an old-school PF meaning he can’t shoot and he can’t guard the perimeter. He hasn’t improved AT ALL in two seasons. Still needs about 20-30 lbs of muscle. STILL needs to drastically improve his handle and has to completely rework his shot. He has talent but it takes more than talent to succeed in the NBA. Since he can’t shoot they’ll need to play him at the 5 and trade Allen and get a 4 who can spread the floor and hit open threes. But at the 5 he’ll get bullied. It’s not looking good for his fanboys right now

should I use more emojis or does that answer your question
Timmy didnt have a series he was this useless and awful offensively until he was 40yo in his retirement season
Pure delusion to think Mobley will ever have a Tim Duncan role on an offense
Timmy was still a junior in wake forest at this age
I agree with your position but Timmy was a 21 year old graduate when he was drafted. Mobley will be 22 in 2 months... So technically, Mobley was the same age as Timmy during their rookie years... which is mind blowing...
Edit: Timmy was 20 during his entire senior college season.

Re: Ceiling of Evan Mobley
People throw around names too easily. People should revisit how skilled and talented Duncan was in college. He was as sure a thing as any player that came out of the draft in decades. Mobley is nowhere near that.thelead wrote:clyde21 wrote:GSP wrote:

by NBA years, sure but by actual age, Timmy was a rookie at 21 while Mobley is a second year player at the same age.
Point still stands, Cavs are wasting the potential of a top 3 pick by not giving him the reps he needs. I fear, with the trades they've made, that the boat may have already sailed on that opportunity for Mobley with the Cavs.

I still think he's a perennial all nba guy and potential DPOY but it depends how much he works at it. Not everyone is wired like Giannis.

In todays league, guys are so efficient, you gotta earn those reps. Mobley been trash doing anything other than playing off of others. One of the worst in iso and post ups in the entire nba playoffs and regular season. He needs to get in the lab and at least be better than mitchell when the whole opps are gameplanning to stop him.

Yea man. Mobley has never resembled or rivaled Tim at any level, that noise needs to get killed.
