Value wise, fine.

But just a total lack of direction from the Kings once again. What is the play here?

There has to be more for this to make any sense....

Hornets need a center, and now need a SF since Hayward went down. maybe something works for Holmes and Barnes with Washington/Bouknight/Rozier, don't know the numbers offhand

As a 76ers fan this is a kick in the nuts. If they offered that package for Ben then Morey screwed up big time. Haliburton is going to be special. Did the Kings not watch how he just played in Philly, kid was unguardable that night. Just a really dumb move by Sacramento.

Not going to pretend that I can recall how the salary / draft capital would work off the top of my head, but if the Hornets have any chance at acquiring Turner, they need to snatch it.

They got an all star type of the player in return , with Haliburton who knows, with his tiny build and messed up three point technique.

He's a point guard playing in a forwards body there's nothing wrong with that. He's only 21 so he has plenty of time to mature into his body. And that messed up three point technique is second in the league in pull up 3FG%. He's the prototypical pg for this era of basketball...tall, long wingspan, high IQ, efficient shooter, good playmaker, and has the ability to play multiple positions. Plus he's a good leader by all accounts, says all the right things, and has a strong work ethic.

I wonder how many people here have actually watched him play...

People are really underselling how good Sabonis is. I am surprised Sac gave up on Haliburton who is good and on a rookie scale contract which is like platinum value though. Sabonis will make any team he's on a better team because of his ability to play and pass in the low or high post and he rebounds very well. He's not a shot blocker or a great three point shooter but everything else he checks off. It isn't his fault the Pacers record is as bad as it is.

I don't get this for the Kings. I thought Vivek wanted something like the run and gun Dubs? At least it was the outline of a vision. How does Sabonis fit into that framework? I guess he doesn't. Is there a plan here?

Such a good trade for the pacers.

Sabonis is a good player but it is so hard to build a team around his strenghts that i am not sure he is worth it.

Bad rim protector, Bad shooter, Bad perimeter defender. Hope he will have success with the Kings though (but think he will struggle playing with fox and Holmes).

We were also able to clear some salary with lamb and holiday.

We really needed a point guard and we get one with upside and on a rookie contract and people argue if it is a Bad trade for us ??
Plus, he fits pretty well with Duarte.

It also frees up playing time for our promising rookie isiah Jackson.

This is fair for both teams, value wise. But I can see why some people are confused at the direction of the Kings. Are they trying to make a hail mary push for 8th or what? It might have been better to stay the course and keep up the youth movement.

I also assume Bagley gets moved by the deadline as well after this.

tbf, pacers aren't trying to get better. Their goal is to rebuild and they just got a promising young player in just this second season. Plus they can flip Buddy Hield to a contender if possible.

Exactly. If they were trying to get better they wouldn't move their main pieces. The goal is to rebuild, and they did well with acquiring Haliburton. They have Duarte and Haliburton and that is a bright backcourt for the Pacers.

Their FO made some nice moves, here.

I assumed trading Sabonis for a bunch of guards and unplayable Tristan Thompson was a commitment to Turner, but who knows

What did Sabonis ever do to deserve getting sent to the Kings?

I guess that means Sacramento has decided to build around De'Aaron Fox.

I feel like Indiana gave Sabonis away here. That isn't a dig at Haliburton and Hield, but this feels rushed.

Now I could finally watch and be excited about basketball again.

Was tired of every single Pacer aside from Duarte, so I could care less who left (or leaves.)

Good day indeed.

Welcome to Indy Tyrese!

Nobody's saying Sabonis isn't a really good player. It's just that Sacramento gave up the one thing they shouldn't have given up to get him, Haliburton still on his rookie deal

Yup. If they had done almost anything else (short of fire selling multiple FRPs) people would have loved this for Sac. Haliburton + Sabonis, that's a core to get excited about. RIP Kings

ConSarnit wrote:So the Kings look at Indy and see the mediocre fit between Sabonis and Turner and think: how can we make this worse?

Sabonis and Holmes seem like a terrible fit. Holmes is worse shooter and worse defender than Turner. Is there a follow up trade in the works to move Holmes because this seems stupid.

This is the Kings we're talking about. After the Mavs imploded after trading for Rondo the Kings tried to sign both Monta Ellis and Rajon Rondo because they saw how they played in Dallas together and thought "hey let's get some of that". It didn't happen because Monta took an ill advised deal with the Pacers for less money once he saw the Kings make an offer to him

the kings fans should just throw food and the court and boo so they postpone the game, this is unacceptable
